MeaningPaying due honor and respect to one's country with a willingness to serve.

Ways to Cultivate Patriotism

Ages 6 and up:

Show respect for your country's flag. "I pledge allegiance to the flag..."

Ages 10 and up:

Show respect for people and symbols representing your country; pray for leaders and soldiers.

Ages 12 and up:

Show respect for symbols and things associated with your country; pray for your country and servicemen.

Prayer for Patriotism

Dear Jesus, Please bless my country all those who work hard to lead it. Thank You for blessing us with many good gifts! May You always be King of this land. May You be glorified through its government and laws. Give me a heart of service, especially toward those who are weak and defenseless.

October is the Month of the Holy Rosary

October is the month of the Holy Rosary. The feast of Our Lady of the Rosary is celebrated annually on October 7th. It was instituted to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in gratitude for the protection that she gives the Church in answer to the praying of the Rosary by the faithful. This month, set aside time to pray the rosary - alone, with your family, or even on your drive to work. There are many apps and YouTube videos that will walk you through praying the rosary if you need a guide.

Respect Life Month

Pray With Us on Fridays

October is also Respect Life Month. Join our Pro-Life Club on Friday mornings at 6:45am in front of the church to pray the rosary together. Each week we will welcome a guest speaker. This week's speaker is Amelia Hanna, CCS class of 2023 alum.

Called to Be Saints

At Corpus Christi School we love celebrating the lives of the Saints! A patron saint has been assigned to each class by Fr. Pat. These class patron saints will remain the same for each class during their entire time at CCS. The chosen saints offer our students more chances to interact with our Catholic faith by learning about their class saints. This year we are going to share more about our class saints via the Cougar Compass. We hope you will enjoy learning about them too!

St. Theresa of Avila

Feast Day: October 15th

St. Teresa of Ávila (1515–1582) was a Spanish Carmelite nun, mystic, and writer who was a leading figure of the Counter-Reformation. Considered one of the most influential Catholic mystics, she reformed the Carmelite order with an emphasis on a return to a more austere, contemplative life. Her extensive writings on spiritual development and prayer earned her the posthumous title of Doctor of the Church.

Each class is assigned a male and female patron saint. St. Theresa of Avila is the male patron saint for the Class of 2032.
