Prayer for Gratitude

Dear Jesus, Please give me a thankful heart, realizing that all I have comes from You.

Called to Be Saints

At Corpus Christi School we love celebrating the lives of the Saints! A patron saint has been assigned to each class by Fr. Pat. These class patron saints will remain the same for each class during their entire time at CCS. The chosen saints offer our students more chances to interact with our Catholic faith by learning about their class saints. This year we are going to share more about our class saints via the Cougar Compass. We hope you will enjoy learning about them too!

St. Augustine of Hippo

354-430

Augustine was born to a pagan father and a Christian mother. Sadly, he followed more in his father's was than his mother's and became a real troublemaker, even teaching pagan beliefs to others. Eventually his mother's prayers won his conversion. In his imense gratitude for knowing the truth, loving God and loving his Catholic faith, he gave his whole life to God as a priest and later a bishop. St. Augustine wrote so well about God that he was named a Doctor of the Church.

Each class is assigned a male and female patron saint. St. Augustine of Hippo is the male patron saint for the Class of 2026.

New Saints Canonized on Sept. 7th

On Sunday, September 7th, the Holy Father Leo XIV presided over the Eucharistic celebration and the Rite of Canonization of Blesseds Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis. Their canonization drew an estimated 70,000 people to St. Peter's Square. These were the first canonizations of Pope Leo's pontificate. In attendance were family members of Carlo Acutis. His younger brother, Michele, read a passage from the Book of Wisdom during the Mass. To learn more about these new saints, download the PDF linked below that was created by Mary Lawson, our Sacramental Coordinator at Corpus Christi Parish. Sts. Carlo Acutis and Pier Giorgio Frassati pray for us!
