Celebrate living, working and thriving in Marseilles!

Positive Results:

Marseilles Library received $259,000 in repairs with assistance from a $125,000 grant; to repair concrete/copper gutters, the roof, as well as tuckpointing for the bricks and facia.

What's Ahead:

The City has received a $500,000 grant to construct a sidewalk on Rutland Street up to the Medical Center and a $650,000 OSLAD grant to renovate Broadway Park - including the addition of a splash pad for children!

The City is also currently working on an ITEP Main Street Revitalization Grant that will be submitted in 2024. A TARP Grant received to resurface Commercial Street will also be awarded this year. The City has applied for a Brownfield Grant to address any environmental issues with Washington School and the Nabisco building.

The City is moving forward with a lead water pipe survey and inventory as the result of a $50,000 grant from the EPA.

Please note: grant money is a one time award due to an application submitted by the City and does not have to be paid back.

Dear Marseilles Residents,

We have said goodbye to 2023 and I am looking forward to 2024. As I do every year, I have been reflecting on this past year. As we stay focused on our future, we have many things to look forward to in 2024. The City obtained a second $450,000 Housing Rehabilitation Grant for low to moderate income families. The grant was supported by monetary donations from OSB Bank, Marseilles Bank, Jonathon Walker of Edward Jones, and NUCOR. A total of 10 homes have, or are being renovated at this time. We have finally been given the go-ahead and will be seeking bids for the two projects for which we received grants.

We are very fortunate to have a great team at City Hall that has supported moving our City forward. My thanks to Commissioners Buckingham, Kaminski, Small and Scheib, City Engineer Etscheid, along with our Department heads and the rest of our staff. As they say, many hands make light work.

I am honored to serve as your mayor. I’m grateful for my family and friends. I’m confident that we will continue to work together and celebrate together as we move our beautiful City forward. I wish everyone a healthy, happy, and safe new year ahead.

Mayor Jim Hollenbeck
