Dear Marseilles Residents,

The City is excited that the construction of the sidewalk on Rutland Street will be done this year. The sidewalk will start at Fillebrowne by the Legion and go north to 11th Street then east to Carrie Lane. Bids were opened in Springfield recently with Gensini being the low bidder at $544,676.75. The city was awarded an ITEP Grant in the amount of $545,000.00. Due to the increase in construction costs the planned sidewalk going up Bratton Avenue had to be removed and will be pursued in another grant later. A 75-day construction period is anticipated.

The City has two grant applications submitted that we are waiting for announcements. The Safe Schools grant to replace faulty sidewalks utilized by school children and the Brownfield Grant for the old Washington School and Nabisco Building.

The City is taking applications for summer help both with Public Works and the swimming pool. Applications are available on line at www.cityofmarseilles.com or at City Hall.
