May 2025

Dear Neighbors,

As I reflect on my eight years representing you on the San Antonio City Council, I am filled with gratitude for your trust, your partnership, and the many memories we’ve shared together. Over the past eight years, I've had the chance to listen, learn, and lead alongside an extraordinary community. Getting to know each of you and working alongside this incredible community has truly been the greatest honor of my life.

District 8 is in a better place today thanks to years of hard work, collaboration, and a shared vision for a stronger future. One of my lasting commitments has been to identify the infrastructure improvements that would most benefit our neighborhoods and to fight for the funding to make them a reality. I’m proud to share that many of these long-term investments have been secured and are scheduled for construction in the coming years. Whether it’s park enhancements, sidewalk upgrades, or new traffic signals, you’ll continue to see real progress in and around your neighborhood thanks to the work we’ve done together.

This final edition of our newsletter highlights some of these incoming projects, improvements I championed because I care deeply about this district and want to leave it even better for the families who call it home. I’ve always believed that our neighborhoods deserve the same care, attention, and investment as any part of our city, and I’ve worked every day to deliver just that.

"District 8 is in a better place today thanks to years of hard work, collaboration, and a shared vision for a stronger future."

Though my team and I will remain in office until June 17, this will be the last newsletter we send during our time in office. As we prepare to transition to new leadership, I take great pride in knowing that the groundwork we’ve laid will continue to benefit our community for years to come. If you need assistance before our term concludes, please don’t hesitate to reach out at (210) 207-0943 or council.district8@sanantonio.gov.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you. While my time in office is coming to a close, the work we’ve done together will continue to move District 8 forward, and I couldn’t be prouder of that legacy.

Yours in Service,

Manny Pelaez

San Antonio District 8 City Councilman

UPCOMING INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS

Over the past eight years, I’ve worked hard to secure the resources needed to invest in the daily quality of life for our District 8 residents. I’m proud to share that many of these investments will soon begin to take shape across our neighborhoods. These upcoming infrastructure improvements, funded by dollars I fought to allocate, reflect our shared priorities: safer streets, more walkable communities, and stronger public spaces for all.

Read below for a look at the kinds of improvements you can expect to see in the coming years.

NEW TRAFFIC SIGNALS

New signalized intersections will ease congestion and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians, and especially students walking to and from school.

  • Intersection of Woller Rd & W. Hausman Rd
  • Intersection of Prue Rd & Westfield Pl
  • Intersection of Oak Dr & Milsa Dr
  • Intersection of Lockhill Selma Rd & Indian Woods Rd

DIGITAL RADAR FEEDBACK SIGNS

Digital speed signs provide real-time feedback to drivers, helping reduce speeding and making our streets safer for everyone.

These investments were identified based on community input, traffic and safety data, and a commitment to ensuring District 8 receives its fair share of city resources. I am proud that these improvements will continue to serve our community well into the future.
