Hello, Heart of Virginia! | | |
Diabetes
Very likely, someone in your unit has diabetes—a medical condition that disrupts the body’s ability to control blood sugar. Potentially life-threatening problems might occur if and when their blood sugar gets too high or too low. Scouts with diabetes can safely participate in all Scouting activities by planning ahead and communicating with leaders. This includes developing a diabetes action plan with parents, ensuring adequate supplies are on hand, and knowing how to manage blood sugar levels during outdoor adventures. By being prepared, Scouts with diabetes can fully enjoy the fun and challenges of the program.
