EARLY MORNING DROP-IN MEDITATION  
Begins Monday, September 17

Elementary and junior high students arriving at Cove before 8:30 AM are invited to participate in Early Morning Drop-In Meditation. This optional alternative to before-school outdoor recess is an opportunity for younger students to start their school day with a short period of calm, focus and quiet self-reflection.  For more information, please contact Regina Aniolowski at raniolowski@coveschool.org

COVE ART FAIR AT YMCA

We are pleased to announce that student artwork will be on display October 1 to 14 for the 5th Annual Cove Art Fair hosted by the North Suburban YMCA. This includes one entry from all the current elementary and junior high students, last year's 8th graders and the 2017 and 2018 high school art classes. Families and friends are invited to the culminating reception celebrating their talent and ingenuity on Sunday, October 14, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 4:45 PM. COFFEE AND PRESENTATION AT COVE
Wednesday, October 17 

Cove will be hosting a Coffee and Presentation for prospective families  interested in joining the Cove community. Registration will begin at 9:15 AM and the program begins at 9:30 AM. ELEMENTARY AND JUNIOR HIGH HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL

All elementary and junior high students are invited to a Halloween costume and dance party from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at The Cove School. Students can enjoy a pizza dinner, dancing, a photo booth, carnival games, prizes and a quiet space. HALLOWEEN SCHOOL DAY ACTIVITIES 
Wednesday, October 31
  
High school students will be treated to bagels and juice compliments of the Parent Association and are encouraged to dress in school appropriate costumes. 
Elementary and Junior High students will take part in our annual Halloween parade, followed by festive activities in their classrooms. students are encouraged to bring costumes to school they can change into after lunch. Please bring school appropriate costumes (no masks, weapons-related items or apparel, etc.).

Parents and guardians are encouraged to sign their students up for one or more of our amazing after school activities. There are activities for all interests, including mathematics, robotics, homework help, sports, music and so much more. Please note that parents are responsible for arranging transportation home from after school programs. CHOICES FAIR
Monday, October 22

Students and families are invited to attend CHOICES 2018, a night of post-secondary transition information for students with learning disabilities and special needs, at Deerfield High School. Breakout sessions will begin at 6:00 PM and a college fair will begin at 7:00 PM. For more information, visit postsecondarychoices.org. OPTIONS FAIR
Tuesday, October 23
Students and families are invited to attend the Options Fair, a regional post-secondary planning night for students with disabilities, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Wheaton Warrenville South High School. BEST FAIR

Students and families are invited to the BEST (Business and Education for Students in Transition) Resource Fair for students with special needs, their parents/guardians and professionals from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at Niles North High School. SPECIAL GIFTS THEATRE PROGRAMS 

Students are invited to participate in the Fall programs put on by Special Gifts Theatre, an education and therapeutic theatre organization with locations in Winnetka, Chicago, Palatine and Libertyville for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities ranging in age from 10 years and older. National Emergency Communication Test Delayed 

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), will conduct a nationwide test of the  Emergency Alert System (EAS)  and  Wireless Emergency Alerts  (WEA) on the backup date of  October 3, 2018  due to ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence. The WEA portion of the test commences at  2:18 p.m. EDT , ( 1:18p.m.  Central) and the EAS portion follows at  2:20 p.m. EDT . (The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether improvements are needed.  The WEA test message will have a header that reads "Presidential Alert" and text that says:  "THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."  Complete details from FEMA can be found at www.fema.gov/emergency-alert-test.

Check out the Cove School Virtual Backpack for information about participating products ( click here), the new mobile app ( click here), and for collection sheets (optional to use).  You can submit your  Box   Tops  any time that you want, but our first BIG deadline is  October 22, 2018.
