Meet Child Creativity Lab's New CEO
Child Creativity Lab is delighted to welcome Cherylee "Lee" Shaar as our new CEO, effective May 1, 2019. A former CCL board member, Lee is an accomplished attorney, entrepreneur, and philanthropist dedicated to inspiring others to use their time, talent, and resources in creative and beneficial ways.

Lee began her legal career 20 years ago, when she practiced law in the areas of dependency and delinquency, advising troubled youth and families in crisis. Subsequently, Lee opened her own law office focusing on representing special needs children in their education matters.

The proud mom of three kids, Lee is also the Founder and Director of the Mariners Church Legal Ministry. She received a B.A. in Political Science from Colorado State University in 1994, and a J.D. from the University of Denver, College of Law in 1997.

"I'm delighted to begin this new phase of my professional career by joining Child Creativity Lab," explains Lee. "Like the children we serve, CCL has unlimited potential. I look forward to working with our board, staff, donors and other community members as we continue to expand CCL's reach and refine its mission."

Child Creativity Lab is also pleased to thank Acting Executive Director Kaitlyn Lam for "holding down the fort" since early December, 2018. Kaitlyn is a highly valued team member at CCL and will continue to work with us after May 1. Thank you, Kaitlyn, for your commitment to creativity!

Learning from Leonardo
According to Time Magazine's "The Science of Creativity," Leonardo Da Vinci was not merely a genius. What set him apart from people who are merely extraordinarily smart was creativity: the ability to apply imagination to intellect.

Here are just a few lessons from the extraordinary life of Leonardo Da Vinci:

  • Be curious, relentlessly curious
  • Seek knowledge for its own sake
  • Retain a childlike sense of wonder
  • Observe
  • Start with the details
  • See things unseen
  • Go down rabbit holes
  • Get distracted
  • Respect facts
  • Think visually
  • Avoid thinking in silos
  • Allow time for ideas to marinate and intuition to gel

Give the Gift of Creativity Today!

Did you know that the world’s business leaders named creativity as the most crucial factor for future success?

Not hard work. Not discipline. Not even integrity or vision.

In a 2010 IBM Global Survey of more than 1,500 CEOs from 60 countries and 33 industries worldwide, participants selected creativity as THE most important factor for success. Yet in America, creativity has declined steadily since 1990, with creativity programs in schools continuing to be a victim of budget cuts.

It’s for precisely these reasons that Child Creativity Lab was formed: to provide young children in Orange County with opportunities to explore their capacity for creativity. In addition, we are committed to providing these opportunities to underserved youth in our community, with the majority of the youth we reach from this particular demographic.

An investment in Child Creativity Lab is an investment in the future of our entire society. Your contribution – whether $10, $50, $100 or more – will help in so many ways. Here are just a few examples of what your gift might accomplish:

·        $10 can put a STEAM education kit into the hands of a K-8 grade student
·        $50 can provide a hand-on STEAM-based educational workshop for five children
·        $100 can provide STEAM education kits for 10 children
·        $250 can sponsor a hands-on STEAM-based workshop for an entire class

Please consider giving the gift of creativity by making your contribution today!
