JUNE 2026

END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR 2026!

Our students just left, and while we will miss them, we are so proud of the year we had, and look forward to using our summer to make next year even stronger.

It has been a landmark year for our community, and while we could easily fill a book with our progress, a few highlights truly capture the momentum we are building together.

Our primary focus this year was the bold reinstitution of our Catholic identity. We’ve taken significant strides to weave faith into every aspect of campus life, from launching the Virtue = Strength program within our athletic department and welcoming a full-time Campus Minister, to providing a Bible for every student and investing over $30,000 in beautiful Chapel renovations.

Beyond spiritual growth, we remain committed to a holistic student experience. This year saw the addition of cutting-edge electives like Robotics and Drones, the near-completion of a new golf simulator lab, and vital security upgrades including ballistic-grade window filming and a comprehensive door replacement project.

We also revitalized our recreational spaces thanks to the leadership of alumnus Dan Deasy and secured the support of influential donors who have committed several hundred thousand dollars toward student scholarships and campus improvements.

These internal investments are already yielding incredible external results. From the stunning success of the Gala, where the weather and the "vibes" were truly a blessing, to a renewed presence in our local 5th–8th grade classrooms, the word is out.

We are thrilled to report 104 first-year applications, our highest number in seven years. With 40 students already officially enrolled (surpassing last year’s total class of 31) and a steady stream of transfers joining us from across the region, our halls are growing vibrant and full once again. Thank you for being the foundation upon which this growth is built.

May God bless our Bishop Canevin community over this summer with sunshine, health, and joy. We can’t wait to see you out and about at our happy hours, cookout, reunions, etc! Stop in anytime to say hello!

CHAPEL UPGRADES

Chapel renovations nearly complete!

This last week, the chapel has undergone major upgrades. A leak in the roof was addressed, and new LED lighting was placed throughout the chapel ceiling. Our confessional was COMPLETELY replaced. A new celebrant's chair with the Bishop Canevin shield engraved into it was placed in the sanctuary. The addition of air conditioning is now ready to begin!

We still hope to refinish the pews. If anyone has time or skill to take on this project over the summer, please reach out to Sara at barbischs@bishopcanvin.org.

We began by uploading every yearbook in Canevin history, and we have recently added our current BCHS directory, a list of Canevin athletic team championships, alumni events, and our updated ring of honor list!

In Memoriam

We remember and honor our departed Canevin alumni brothers and sisters who have gone home to the Lord.

Prayer for Our Departed:

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

We also pray for comfort and peace for their families and friends who carry their memory in their hearts.

This award is a well-deserved celebration of the difference Ms. Holleran makes in the lives of our students, families, and school community.

Former BC parent is the featured real estate agent on new episode of “House Hunters” on TLC! Katherine Correa, mom of Aaryn ‘25,detailed with Pittsburgh’s TribLive how this experience came to be. 

“The opportunity came about when my clients, Elizabeth and Eric Sanders, reached out to the production company and expressed interest in being featured on the show,” Correa explained. “They went through an initial video interview process so the producers could get a feel for their chemistry and personalities. The production company found them fun, entertaining and loved their story, which helped them move on to the second phase of auditions.”

That’s when Correa came into the process.

“The producers wanted to learn more about my experience, my knowledge of the Pittsburgh and Washington County real estate markets, and my personality on camera,” Correa said. “Having worked as a Realtor for the past five years, I’ve built much of my business through social media by creating reels and fun, engaging videos for my clients and audience. I think the producers felt our personalities and dynamic together would make for a very entertaining episode.”
