Program Details
Grades 1 to 6: (Reading/Language) Students will be instructed in developing strategies to help ensure success on standardized tests. Through writing and thinking skills the program fosters growth in comprehension and places an emphasis on language skills and word recognition. Students learn how integrating the skills of listening, speaking and writing will develop their achievement in comprehension and testing. Concentration is placed on the benchmark skills that contribute to success in reading. Grades 1 and 2 will be using key components from the “Wilson Fundations Program” to enhance phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and comprehension strategies.
Grades 7 and 8 (HIgh School Entrance/Scholarship Exam Test Prep): Each incoming 7th and 8th grader will receive a Master the High School Entrance Exam book. This book will begin to prepare the students for high school entrance exams, scholarship exams, and high school placement tests. It is also an excellent resource to strengthen a student’s standardized testing. This book develops test-taking strategies, enhances verbal logic, reading, and composition. A great deal of emphasis is placed on developing quantitative reasoning and critical thinking.
Grades 1-8 (Math): The Math Curriculum is designed to maintain, reinforce, enrich, and think critically. The program reinforces the mathematical skills that were taught throughout the school year, yet introduces new concepts so they have a jump start to their upcoming school year. In addition, our summer math curriculum teaches “Process Skills in Problem Solving” to all grade levels. This teaching method demonstrates step-by-step problem-solving strategies to help students handle higher-level problem solving and develop the correct thinking process. The goal is to build confidence in solving visualization and application-based questions in mathematics.
Cost
The cost of the program is $360.00 per child.
Registration is accepted on a first come first serve basis - Space is limited.
A $150.00 family deposit is required upon registration. The final payment is due on June 3rd.
