Crystals as Tools:
Crystal Grids

Last month we learned how to select, care for, and maintain an arsenal of crystal tools. Now we'll look into some more advanced techniques of crystal work.
Crystal Grids
A crystal grid is an array of crystals intended to focus, concentrate, or channel energies. These grids can range from very simple patterns to quite complex grids consisting of hundreds of various types of stones.

A very simple protective grid for your home cam be created from Black Tourmaline, Citrine, and Smoky Quartz. you need four pieces each of the Tourmaline and Citrine, and five of the Smoky Quartz. Each piece should be approximately the size of the first joint of your thumb.

Place a piece of the Smokey Quartz in each of the four corners of the room you which to energize. beside the Quartz, place a piece of the Tourmaline. At the midpoint between the corners of your room, place the small piece of Citrine.

Your grid is strong at this point, but it can be made even stronger by positioning that fifth piece of Quartz in the exact center of your room. This may seem problematic, until you realize that you an attach it to the ceiling! If you visualize this, you see that you've created a pyramid of energy between the quartz crystals.

I placed the quartz point in the light fixture that hangs from my ceiling. For good measure, I also placed a piece of Tourmaline and Citrine, creating three interlocking, pyramidal grids of power.

Once you've gridded your room, sit in the middle and meditate within your power zone. I guarantee you'll achieve a higher level of spiritual experience.

Psychologists tell us when we set goals there are five levels of personal commitment. These levels apply to every aspect of life, whether we're speaking of relationships, work, developing a skill, setting exercise goals, or learning new

1. I'm not going to do it.
2. I want it, but I don't want to put in any effort.
3. I'll try. I might do it. maybe.
4. I'll do my best, but no promises.
5. I do whatever it takes to achieve this goal.

If you want to be good at what you do, you must commit to Level Five and at least reach Level Four most of the time. In order to achieve this kind of commitment you have to take control of your time, take control of your life, and take control of yourself. A good idea would be to minimize the amount of time Tweeting, emailing and arguing on the Internet, and budget large blocks of time for practicing, thinking about your craft, and perfecting your skills.

It takes the mind nineteen minutes to completely focus on a task. If you're interrupted every five minutes by e-mails or phone calls, then you never achieve maximum concentrations. If you think about this and take a look at today's noisy environment, you realize that most people never achieve a state of total concentration - ever. No wonder we live in an A.D.D. society.

Long ago, I decided to turn off my e-mail program and only answer my e-mails three times a day, and as for my cell phone, I only turn it on during business hours and when I travel.

Recent studies in the business arena have indicated e-mail has devastated employee's abilities to focus on tasks. The idea that the mind can multi-task when performing work requiring high cognitive demands is a myth. If you're trying to learn something requiring a great deal of concentration, eliminate distractions. Turn off your cell phone, get away from the compute, shut off the television. If you're from the younger generation this may drive you crazy but you will learn faster. This isn't my opinion; this is science.

One of the more subtle symptoms of this scattered attention problem from which we suffer is the syndrome we innocuously refer to as being an information junkie. Unfortunately, what this leads to is a shallow knowledge of everything and an in-depth knowledge of nothing. It takes a disciplined individual to stop, say 'Enough!" and learn to master the tools he has.  Stop the restless collection of the newest, shiniest geegaw. Most of them wind up collecting dust in a drawer anyway.

Remember, Commitment Level Five tells us to do whatever it takes, and the most important thing it takes is practice.

Silent Thought
of the Day:

No more noisy, loud words from me---such is my master's will.
Henceforth I deal in whispers.
The speech of my heart will be carried on in murmurings of a song.

Men hasten to the King's market. All the buyers and sellers are there.
But I have my untimely leave in the middle of the day, in the thick of work.

Let then the flowers come out in my garden, though it is not their time;
and let the midday bees strike up their lazy hum.

Full many an hour have I spent in the strife of the good and the evil,
but now it is the pleasure of my playmate of the empty days to draw my heart on to him;
and I know not why is this sudden call to what useless inconsequence!
