We strongly encourage wearing face masks at the Bicentennial Celebration on Saturday.

Schools are back in session and we have members of our community that are immunocompromised. Let's do our part to make this a safe community event!
Dunk Tank

Come dunk your favorite town officials at the top of each hour!

Event parking will be available at Twin Brook on the Tuttle and Greely Road sides of the facility. Handicap spaces will be located near the red shelter building.

No Dogs Allowed at Twin Brook -
Saturday, September 18th

This Saturday, dogs will not be allowed on the Tuttle Road side of Twin Brook due to the Bicentennial Celebration

Our Animal Control Officer and Police Officers will be monitoring the area for compliance. Thanks for your cooperation and leaving your dog(s) at home!
Construction News
On Friday morning, paving will take place on Range Road from Route 100 to the intersection of Bruce Hill Road and Bruce Hill Road from the intersection of Range Road to the fairgrounds gate. The majority of the paving will be completed on Friday and finished on Saturday.

Aging in Place News
Aging in Place Cumberland is gearing up for their Fall Big Project Day! It will take place on Saturday, October 16th from 9am-12pm. (Rain Date: October 23rd)

Volunteers will assist with outside yard clean-up only such as raking, cutting back bushes, etcand will be required to wear face masks at all times. Teams will work on each project for 1-3 hours.

  • Request Assistance: If you would like help with your yard work, please call Sarah Davis at 829-2298 by Thursday, October 7th. They will attempt to meet each request.
Mornings With Friends
Thank you to Bill and Kathy Kenny for their informative presentation on “Historic Taverns and Tea Rooms of Maine,” this past Wednesday! This was part of the Mornings with Friends series, a monthly program held at the Cumberland Fire Station from 10-11:30, coordinated by Deb Gray.

Prince Memorial Library has teamed up with Chebeague and Cumberland Land Trust to offer monthly Nature Explorer workshops for kids, grades 3-5, who are curious about nature.

Karen Bruder's enthusiasm for nature is contagious, and she knows her stuff. Each workshop explores a different CCLT property with a different topic in mind. Sign up for one or more. Registration is limited and required.

The Greely Girls Soccer team will be holding a Car Wash fundraiser this Sunday at the Cumberland Center Fire Station!

Come out, get your car washed, and support the Greely Girls Soccer program!

Fundraising has been very challenging the past couple of years and this is one of the few opportunities for us to raise money to fund expenses that the boosters take on.
New Moon Ensemble Concert
Sunday, September 19th at 4pm (Congregational Church in Cumberland)
14 dancers and drummers will share uplifting rhythms and dances in the Guinean style of West African Dance and Drumming - celebrating intercultural exchange and the healing power of music and dance.

Join us for this free outdoor concert with food trucks! (Cheese the Day, Snobirds Shave Ice, etc.)

Bring a lawn chair or blanket. In the event of rain, concert will be inside. Please bring canned goods to donate to the Community Food Pantry!
Safe Passage 5K
September 10th to September 19th
Run of walk in support of Safe Passage! Help break the cycle of poverty for Guatemalan children.

The 17th Annual Safe Passage 5K is going virtual once again from September 10th-19th. Anyone can participate regardless of location. Simply register, run, submit results, and celebrate! For more details and to register, click here!

The French and Indian Wars in Maine

On Wednesday, September 22nd the Cumberland Historical Society will be hosting a
presentation with Mike Dekker, author of "French & Indian Wars in Maine".

For eight decades, an epic power struggle raged across the frontier of Maine. Between 1675 and 1759 England, France, and the Native Americans clashed in a series of six wars to defend and claim the ability to call Maine home.

Throughout these conflicts, communities from the Penobscot to the Piscataqua Rivers suffered savage attacks.

Cumberland Fair Parade 2021

Join us for the Cumberland Fair's Opening Day Parade! It begins at 11am on the racetrack.

Enter a float! Participants must register before the day by contacting Deb Dugas. The parade theme is "Compassion, Charity & Kindness".
Get Out! Nature Walk
Wednesday, September 29th at 1:30pm (Knight's Pond Preserve)
On Wednesday, September 29th at 1:30pm, the Chebeague & Cumberland Land Trust and the Royal River Conservation Trust will be hosting a Get Out! Nature Walk at Knight's Pond Preserve. It will be led by CCLT's Executive Director, Chris Cabot. Chris will cover the topic of wetlands.

Get Out! Nature Walks are volunteer-led regular trips with trained master naturalists and other skilled volunteer leaders. Join them for a well-planned, no cost, guided adventure.
Historical Society Scavenger Hunt
Friday, October 8th from 6:30-9:30pm
The Cumberland Historical Society will be sponsoring another town scavenger hunt on Friday, October 8th from 6:30-9:30pm!

Teams in cars will be taken on a fun and interactive adventure throughout Cumberland. The cost is $15 per person. All proceeds benefit the GHS Scholarship Fund.

If you like riddles, like to laugh and think you know a bit about our town and it’s history, then you won’t want to miss out on this fun night.
