Happy Thanksgiving

Town Hall and Prince Memorial Library will be closed next Thursday, November 24th. Prince Memorial Library will also be closed on Friday, November 25th.

Thursday and Friday Trash Route Changes


Thanksgiving is Thursday November 24th – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday trash collection routes will remain the same. Thursday's route will be collected on Friday. Friday's route will be collected on Saturday.

Thanksgiving Food Drive


The Community Food Pantry is holding the 6th Annual Give Thanks & Give Back - Thanksgiving Food Drive! Thank you to the community members who are helping to make this a special Thanksgiving for the 80 families that visit our food pantry. If you are dropping off an item - please remember to do so by 6:30pm today, in the Town Hall Council Chambers!


If you missed the chance to help with this food drive, or would like to do more, please keep an eye out for the Season of Giving Holiday Food Drive which will begin soon after Thanksgiving!

Brush Dump Fall Hours


The brush dump facility is in the final days of the season!

The last day we will accept brush this year is this Saturday, November 19th

Winter Parking Ban


It's that time of year again! Reminder that the Town of Cumberland's winter parking ban is in effect from November 15 until April 1. Parking is prohibited on all public roads and streets between midnight and 7:00 am, and during any snow/ice event. (Photo: M. Creelman)

Planning Board Vacancy


Are you interested in learning more about your community? Can you spare a few evening hours? Would you like to meet other Cumberland residents with similar interests? Becoming a member of one of our committees is a great way to get involved. The Town of Cumberland has a vacancy on the Planning Board.

CPD Hiring - Administrative Assistant


The Town of Cumberland is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police. This position is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support, answering phones, assisting the public, responding to inquiries, writing correspondence, data entry, department payroll, communicating with local, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies as well as private attorneys and the court system. Deputy Chief Croce


This week at the Town Council Meeting, Captain and Life Member Gerald Croce was sworn in as Deputy Chief. Deputy Croce joined the fire department in 1988 as a Junior Member, and since then has served as Firefighter/EMT, Lieutenant, Captain, and now Deputy. Deputy Croce was surrounded by his family, some of which are also CFD members. Congratulations Deputy Croce

Recreation Department News

Annual Tree Lighting


Join us Sunday, November 27th for the Annual Tree Lighting in the center of Cumberland. The tree is located across from the Congregational Church.


Festivities begin at 5:15 PM with the Greely High School Madrigal Chorus. Santa will arrive to light the tree at 5:30 PM!


Santa will then head into the Parish Hall to greet kids and there will be kids crafts and food. We look forward to seeing you there!

Aging In Place News

Handy Helpers


Would you like to help your neighbors? We are looking for volunteers for our Handy Helpers program. Aging in Place volunteers will do minor chores and other simple handyman assignments that don’t require licenses (e.g. plumbing, electrical work). Hearing Health and You

Join Holly Thibodeau, Cumberland resident and owner of Southern Maine Hearing, and Stephanie Smith, Patient Care Coordinator in this interactive session on how hearing better is living better. You will learn valuable information about hearing loss, as well as the many technical advancements and resources available to you.


Come enjoy a cup of hot cider, cider doughnuts, and other yummy snacks as we gather in the Community Room at the Cumberland Fire Department. We look forward to connecting with you! All family members are welcome!

Join Cumberland FF4KIDS for our annual breakfast with Santa!! There will be several Christmas crafts, an opportunity to take a photo with Santa, and of course a yummy breakfast!

Holiday CHS Open House

Saturday, November 19th

The CHS is excited to share that they will be open to the public for a special holiday open house on Saturday, November 19th from 9am - 2pm.  Our School house will be beautifully decorated for the season, we will have crafts for the kids and free hot apple cider and donuts. If you haven't yet had a chance to see our "Remembering our School Days" Exhibit, this would be a great time to come for a visit. It will also be an opportunity to do some holiday shopping as we will have all of our town pride items available for purchase. We are also excited to share that local author and Greely Alum, Barry Somes, will be on hand with his books for signings. We hope you will stop by and see us as you are making the rounds to all of the other town fairs, on November 19th!


Holiday Raffle Calendars

It's back by popular demand! The 2022 December Holiday Raffle calendar is now available. The CHS is so thankful for all of the generous donations that were made from folks and businesses from around our community. We have placed prizes on each day of the month of December and the daily drawings will begin on December 1st. You will be able to follow along with all the drawings and winners on our local social media sites. Calendars are $10 each or 3 for $25. They can be purchased the following ways:

  • Voting Day, Tue., Nov. 8th at the Town Office 8am - 8pm
  • Holiday Open House, Sat., Nov. 19th at the CHS 9am - 2pm

15th Annual Greely Hockey 5K Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2022, at 8am


The first 150 registrants will receive a T-shirt! Due to production requirements, you MUST register by Friday, October 28th to receive a shirt and you must select your desired size. T-shirts and bibs will be available for pick up on Tuesday, November 22nd from 4-7pm in the Greely High School cafeteria.


Pre-Registration Fees are $25 for adults and $20 for youth/students.

Race Day Registration Fees are $30 for adults and $25 for youth/students.


Top male and female winners will receive a pie donated by Toots Ice Cream!
