Yard Waste Guidelines

Are You Doing It Right?


Longer days mean more time for yard work. Due to increased volume, it's important to follow the guidelines to properly prepare your yard waste for curbside collection.



  • Bag, Bundle, or Containerize: Small pieces of yard waste.
  • Stack Neatly: All palm fronds, branches and shrubs.
  • Separate: Garbage, recycling, and yard waste

Join us for the 22nd Annual Turtletown USA Beach Cleanup and help us remove litter and debris from our beaches to kick off sea turtle nesting season!

Beaches Go Green Earth Day Cleanup


On April 19, Beaches Go Green hosted an Earth Day Cleanup Event at multiple beach locations Throughout Duval and St. Johns County. They had a great turnout and were able to remove hundreds of pounds of trash!

Mickler/Ponte Vedra Location:

Volunteers: 127

Cigarette Butts: 370

Pounds of Trash: 80 lbs.

St. Augustine Beach Location:

Volunteers: 75

Cigarette Butts: 3,152

Pounds of Trash: 160 lbs.

West Augustine Nature Society Earth Day, Everyday Cleanup


On April 27, the West Augustine Nature Society hosted an Earth Day Everyday Cleanup event. They provided snacks and had a raffle as volunteers cleaned up the community around West Augustine.


Beaches Go Green and West Augustine Nature Society are both official members of the St. Johns County Adopt-A-Road Program. To learn more about the program and how you can get involved, click the button below:

Holiday Office Hours

Memorial Day


Non-emergency St. Johns County offices will be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 26. They will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 27.


The Tillman Ridge and Stratton Road Transfer Station will remain open during regular operating hours, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.


Curbside collection for household garbage, recycling, and yard waste will not be affected.

Our goal at the Solid Waste Division is to divert as much waste as we can from the landfill. One of the best ways to do this is through our residential curbside recycling program. This Trash Tracker shows how well we're doing in St. Johns County.

The American Flag Rescue Program provides residents with the opportunity to properly retire flags with honor and respect. American Flag Drop Boxes are available to the public in over 25 locations throughout St. Johns County.
