Lady Gloria Ridge Community Logo Revealed!

We’re thrilled to unveil the official logo, designed by the talented Linsey Gray, for our first affordable housing community—Lady Gloria Ridge Community! This logo is a tribute to the remarkable Gloria Howard Free, whose unwavering courage, dedication as an educator, and devotion as an activist inspired inclusivity and love in everyone she met. Her contributions to the community stand as a powerful testament to dignity, resilience, and a vision for a better world for all.

In Linsey’s words:

"The soft curves, inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains, form the shape of a sun hat. The fluid lines suggest forward motion, and beneath the brim, botanical shapes form a familiar profile—proudly reflecting Lady Gloria's many achievements."

Thank you, Linsey, for beautifully capturing Lady Gloria's lasting impact and the legacy she leaves behind!

Sermon

The Cure for Empire

By Pastor Seth

As the rooftops and swaying date palms of the humble town of Bethany came into view, a small village sheltering travel weary pilgrims before the final few miles to Jerusalem, Jesus makes an unusual request. Imploring two of his disciples to go on ahead to the next town and bring back the colt they’ll find stabled there, the two decide to humor the Son of God. Setting off to do as they’re bid, they stumble upon a young donkey exactly where Jesus said it would be, untying and leading it back to him as confused onlookers probably thought they were stealing the poor animal.

When they return from their quest, a short statured fly ridden creature in tow, Jesus takes the rope and informs his party that he will be riding this donkey into Jerusalem. As the disciples cock their eyebrows and share bewildered looks with one another, they toss their cloaks for a saddle before Jesus mounts the honking beast — his feet dangling just above the ground for a sight that was anything but imposing.
