Herreshoff 12 Centennial Gala 
a celebration of 100 years of design


Please support the Herreshoff Marine Museum by joining us for this fun and elegant evening Saturday, May 31, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the classic Herreshoff 12 � and honoring  Terry and Lincoln Mossop, Jr.  Enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the Hall of Boats followed by a gourmet dinner under our waterfront tent catered by Russell Morin Fine Catering.  Dance to the live music of Young Love and the Thrills.

Sail in Bristol Harbor this Summer!
 

We are pleased to announce that our classic Herreshoff 12 � s will be available for short term rentals this summer to qualified sailors.  2014 is the 100th anniversary of the launching of the first 12 �, and as part of our 100th birthday celebration we are providing this opportunity to experience the genius of Nat Herreshoff's design.  Boats will be available for rental on weekends and most weekday afternoons, weather permitting.

Woodshop Classes now being offered!
 
The Herreshoff Marine Museum is pleased to be offering a selection of Woodshop Classes for the public. These classes are an opportunity to explore the traditional skills and craftsmanship of sailors, boatbuilders and mariners of all types. Each class is led by our staff Shipwright, in our boat restoration shop.

Opening Day was a huge success! 
 
Guests had a great time getting away from the cold and gloomy day outside by exploring Herreshoff boats and the new exhibits at the Museum. Visitors enjoyed lemonade and snacks, face-painting by local RWU students, knot tying, games, and guided tours. To view photos from the event, check us out on Facebook! The Museum and Gift Store are open Wednesdays through Sundays from 10am to 5pm until June 16 when it is open 7 days a week. 

May 3rd - A Special Date
 
The Sixth Classic Yacht Symposium was held on May 3rd, 2014 with over 150 people in attendance from all over the world.  This biennial event, organized by the Herreshoff Marine Museum celebrates all aspects of classic yacht design, restoration, reproduction, and use.

Among the papers presented were those covering three N.G. Herreshoff-designed and Herreshoff Manufacturing Co. built classes which in 2014 are celebrating their 100th year.  These are the Newport 29, the Buzzards Bay 25, and the iconic Buzzards Bay Boys' Boat, known to many as the Herreshoff 12 �.

The HMM store is featuring a new vendor this season - SeaBags. Their line of tote bags and accessories are made from recycled sails - designed and handcrafted in Portland, Maine.

We are offering copies of PROCEEDINGS books from Previous Classic Yacht Symposiums (2006, 2008, 2010) for $5 each.

BULLDOG
 
We are pleased to announce that the 12 � BULLDOG, formerly named HEFFALUMP, has returned to the Museum thanks to the outstanding efforts, attention to detail and generosity of the Doughdish LLC division of Ballentine's Boat Shop.
 
Nina and Pinta
 
Keep on the lookout soon for a formal announcement about the 'Nina' and 'Pinta,' replicas of Columbus's ships, which will be docking at the Museum.
