Town Council Meeting on October 6

The Town will hold a Council meeting on October 6, 2025, at 3 p.m. via Zoom. Town Council meetings are being conducted using a hybrid model where members of Council can participate in person at Town Hall or electronically via Zoom.


At this time, members of the public are encouraged to view the meeting by watching the live stream through the Town’s Municipal Calendar web page.


Should you wish to delegate to a Council meeting, please complete the online delegation form no later than one business day before the meeting is to be held.


If you would like to submit feedback, please email your comments to clerks@haltonhills.ca. Comments submitted will be circulated to Council Members in advance of the meeting and will be part of the public record.

Dedicating a Crosswalk to Veterans


Recognizing those who served and fought for the liberties Canadians enjoy today, was the impetus behind dedicating a crosswalk to veterans. A ceremony was held on September 25, where the new veterans crosswalk at Elgin Street and Mill Street East (Hwy 7) in Acton was unveiled.

Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home"TM


The Halton Hills Fire Department is teaming up with the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) to recognize Fire Prevention Week™ (FPW), October 5-11, 2025. This year’s FPW campaign, “Charge into Fire Safety™: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” focuses on educating the public about the importance of safely buying, charging, using, and recycling lithium-ion batteries.

This year’s Culture Days celebration will be the Town’s biggest yet, in its 10 years of participation! From September 19 to October 12, discover over 200 free workshops, performances, tours, exhibitions, and more with the local theme “Past. Present. Future.”


Caring for Your Yard


Credit Valley Conservation is hosting a webinar to learn basic pruning tips for young trees and shrubs, proper mulching techniques, and how to support birds and pollinators. The webinar will be held today, October 2, at 7 to 8 p.m.

Anishinaabe Bird Names Talk


Join Joseph Pitawanakwat and Junaid Kahn of Creators Garden for an afternoon talk on Saturday, October 4, at 1 – 3 p.m. at the Helson Gallery, 9 Church Street, Georgetown. Explore the meaning of bird names in Anishinaabemowin (Ojibwe language) and how they reflect deep connections between birds, people, and the environment. The talk will also highlight the three birds in the running for the Town Bird vote, connecting cultural teachings with community art and local conservation action. This is a free event and registration is not required.

Celebrate Halloween on wheels at the Costume Bike Parade in Gellert Park on Saturday, October 18, at 1 p.m. All ages are welcome—whether you're a kid, teen, adult, or family, come dressed up and ready to ride. Prizes will be awarded for best costumes in various age groups, and everyone gets Halloween treats. This year, enjoy a red-carpet Photo Booth courtesy of Halton Hills Today! Join this fun, family-friendly, all-ages event for a chance to win a giant pumpkin courtesy of Allison’s Farm Market! This free event is organized by the volunteers at Halton Hills Active Transportation/Bike It Committee. 


Community Tree Planting Event


Join us at the Georgetown Fire Hall (53 Maple Avenue), from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, October 18, for a community tree planting event!


The Town and Trees for Halton Hills have partnered to plant 1900 trees across Halton Hills as part of our Revitalizing the Urban Canopy project, with funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' Growing Canada's Community Canopies Grant. This community tree-planting event will help us move closer to our goal. 

Pollinator Meadow Planting Event


Join us for a fun and meaningful community planting event being held in partnership with Credit Valley Conservation. We're creating a vibrant roadside pollinator meadow, and we need your help to plant wildflowers that will support bees, butterflies, and other important pollinators.


The event will be held on October 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 to 4 p.m. at Halton Hills Drive across from Town Hall.

Want to Get Your Hands Dirty at the Upcoming Official Plan Review Open House?


The Town of Halton Hills is holding its second Open House for the Official Plan Review (OPR) - this time with an artistic twist! Join us on October 21, 6-8:30 p.m. at Acton Town Hall for a brief presentation followed by one of two options to choose from. Either participate in interactive workshops and provide your feedback on the OPR vision and priorities, OR take part in an interactive art session led by artist Ingrid Mayrhofer, where you'll have the chance to get your hands dirty with clay. Space for the art session is limited, so registration is required.

An Evening with David A. Robertson


Join the library for An Evening with David A. Robertson as we celebrate his book 52 Ways to Reconcile: How to Walk with Indigenous Peoples on the Path to Healing, the 2025 One Book, One Halton Hills selection. Hosted by CBC’s Elamin Abdelmahmoud, this special event takes place at the John Elliott Theatre on Tuesday, October 7, at 7:30 pm.

Art of the Birds


In partnership with Bird Friendly Halton Hills, this show presents the artistic talent of local artists while raising awareness of birds in the Halton Hills area. Bird subjects include both resident and migratory birds that can be found in the local area. This year’s show coincides with Round 2 of voting for the Town of Halton Hills' official bird and will spotlight the three finalists: Eastern Screech Owl, Great Blue Heron, and Northern Cardinal, as voted by the community. The show is currently on view until October 19 at the Upper Sisnett Lobby of the Cultural Centre.
