Many are very concerned about the events that have been developing in Gaza, Israel, the West Bank, and surrounding countries. The Adult Christian Education Committee at Bon Air Presbyterian is pleased to offer this series of classes led by Rev. Dr. Peter Ford, retired missionary seminary professor in the Middle East, which will provide historical and religious context to the current crisis. We will hear a diversity of voices speak to this subject, both Palestinian and Jewish, examine our interpretation of events and our own Scripture, and consider how we as Christians might respond.

Classes will include preliminary optional reading, PowerPoint and video presentations, outside speakers, and class discussion.

As the body of Christ, we are never without hope, and we never lack the capacity to love our neighbor. The New Hanover Presbyterian Church Mission team is hosting a Benefit Dinner and Concert for Gaza Hunger Aid on Saturday, September 27, from 6 to 8 p.m. The acoustic trio, Coleman, Fuller, and Tucker will provide musical entertainment.

All money collected at the benefit will be donated to World Central Kitchen and the International Rescue Committee, two hunger relief organizations that have continued to operate and provide food in Gaza. The NHPC mission team will match all donations up to $5,000. Please, plan on joining us, and bring your friends and neighbors as we raise money and awareness for those suffering in Gaza.

In a time of deep conflict and painful headlines, how are people of faith called to respond? Bring a vital conversation to your congregation that explores the complex history of Israel-Palestine and its profound moral and theological implications.

Our speakers offer a unique blend of firsthand experience and pastoral wisdom:

Michael Barr (MA, International Peace and Conflict Resolution) shares insights from his time as a volunteer near Bethlehem, combined with his academic expertise in peacebuilding.

Rev. Christopher Tweel, a pastor with 20+ years of experience and direct study in the region, guides the discussion through a lens of theology, trauma-awareness, and faithful justice.

This program is designed for churches seeking to foster compassionate, informed dialogue and deeper understanding within their community.

Ideal for:

  • Adult Education Forums
  • Special Guest Speaker Series
  • Community-Wide Interfaith Events

To coordinate a speaking engagement and discuss presentation options, please contact Rev. Tweel by clicking below or calling 804.404.3088.

Salisbury Presbyterian Church

Salisbury Presbyterian Church is hosting a Presbytery-wide forum discussing racism and the greater church’s history of racism. The catalyst for this was a local presentation by the Reverend Robert P. Jones based on his book White Too Long. Ten people from SPC attended the event and are organizing this forum for the community.

If you are interested in attending, please register below. You need not have read the book prior to this meeting, but you will have more to discuss in table groups if you have. For more information, please contact Marsha Summers.
