February 2019
Dear Friend,
I hope 2019 is off to a good start for you and your family. We've definitely had a chilly beginning to the year, but unfortunately the bad guys are still causing mischief despite the cooler temperatures.
Our main message continues to be this, "If you see something, say something." You could help prevent a crime from happening by simply helping us get to a situation that looks suspicious.

Please CALL US when you need us - it's the best way for us to get information from you about crime, and to dispatch law enforcement. We can always be reached at 863-298-6200 (and of course 9-1-1 in an emergency).

Remember, you can also help us by keeping your doors to your vehicleand your home locked and don't leave valuables in plain sight in vehicles. Criminals strike when you least expect it.
If you need us, call us. We will always answer the call.

Grady Judd, Sheriff

2019 Bustin' Clays

The 2019 Bustin' Clays is quickly approaching!

Join us for the 11th annual Bustin' Clays with Sheriff Grady Judd. If you love to target shoot, you'll enjoy this competitive event.  We would love for you to come out and participate this year and help support Polk Sheriff's Charities, Inc.

This year it will be held on March 16, 2019 at Tenoroc Sporting Clays in Lakeland.  Last year's event attracted over 360 shooters and over 500 people were in attendance. You can also sign-up to be a sponsor as there are several packages to select from.  Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.

There is no hard cut-off for Bustin' Clays registration, however there is a limited capacity which we meet each year.  Event tickets are first-come, first-serve. Be sure to register as soon as you can. Shooter Information must be turned in no later than March 11th to be available at the Registration Table the day of the event.  If Shooter information is not turned in by this date, the team will need to check in under their team or company name at the registration booth the day of the event.

Every registered shooter will receive breakfast, lunch, a gift bag, a raffle ticket, 50 rounds of ammo, a T-shirt and a hat. Lunch will be provided by the Texas Cattle Company!

New PCSO Volunteers
Please join Sheriff Judd in welcoming the first  Volunteer Sheriff's Service Officer ( VSSO)  class of 2019!

The new members of  the VSSO Program have the unique opportunity to serve their community as a volunteer by contributing their time to assist full-time sworn deputies and detectives with important law enforcement functions.

This includes writing routine reports on past-occurred crimes, which allows deputies and detectives to concentrate on more complex violent crimes and calls for service.

VSSO's are trained in criminal and civil law, property evidence handling, fingerprinting and can perform crime scene investigations, traffic crash investigations, conduct patrols and issue civil traffic citations.

They are also Notaries and NCIC/FCIC certified. VSSO's are not sworn, cannot make an arrest and do not carry a weapon.

PCSO is actively recruiting new members for our next VSSO Academy which is tentatively scheduled for July 2019.
For more information, contact 863-297-1176.
