Since taking office on November 19, 2025, Commissioner Joel G. Flores has been steadfast in advancing his vision for District 3 and fulfilling the promises made throughout his campaign. During his first 100 days, Commissioner Flores has focused on establishing a foundation of collaboration, transparency, and actionable progress. From day one, he has prioritized engaging with constituents, listening to their concerns, and working closely with local leaders to address the needs in District 3 and Palm Beach County.
His early efforts have centered on a broad range of critical issues that include driving economic prosperity, advocating for mental health services for children under 12, workforce housing, and improving transportation and urban planning systems. A few highlights of these first 100 days:
| | - Board of County Commissioners Agenda Meetings: On the day of his inauguration, he hit the ground running by attending his first BCC meeting. Since then, he has been a strong advocate for children's mental health, championed initiatives to support local businesses, and played a pivotal role in saving a workforce housing project from potential failure. He even voted to increase airport parking fees to match those of other neighboring counties bringing more prosperity to our area. | | |
- Tours and Visits: Commissioner Flores has a comprehensive understanding of our county by connecting with each municipality and his county organizations. His goal is to collaborate with stakeholders to improve the quality of life for all the citizens in Palm Beach County. The D3 team has visited: The City of Greenacres, Village of Palm Springs, the Solid Waste Authority, Lantana Airport, and the Palm Beach International Airport.

- Proclamations: Commissioner Flores acknowledged significant dates, individuals and organizations with proclamations; for their outstanding contributions and achievements in the community.
These proclamations include: Human Trafficking Prevention Month, Heart Health Awareness, National Engineers Week, Arbor Day, Susan G Komen More than Pink Walk, and joined Commissioner Bobby Powell in recognition of Black History Month.

Commissioner Flores welcomed local Hispanic artists to his office to honor their contributions to the arts, by showcasing their work.
As the first Hispanic Commissioner elected to office Commissioner Flores hosted an office warming event welcoming friends, family, and community leaders. In efforts to foster collaboration and build relationships.
D3 also hosted several key organizations including Discover The Palm Beaches, PEACE, the Community Foundation.
In addition, he celebrated Black History Month, by attending a very moving Soil Collection Ceremony Remembering Mr. Henry Simmons who was a victim of a terror lynching in 1923.
| | The Commissioner has been very active and passionate about youth mentorship attending the Joaquin Garcia Ethical Governance Day and coaching youth basketball in the City of Greenacres. At the heart of this vision is the revitalization of major corridors like Lake Worth Road, Lantana Road, Congress Avenue, and Military Trail. Through smart redevelopment initiatives, the district will see improved infrastructure, modernized commercial spaces, and workforce housing options that support working families. By incentivizing responsible growth—such as density and height bonuses tied to affordable housing—District 3 will become a model for sustainable and inclusive development. These efforts will not only enhance the local economy but also preserve the character and accessibility of the communities within the district.

This month we visited the Lantana Airport and learned how important this small but mighty facility is to our County's economic development. Here's a few fun facts about Lantana Airport:
- LNA is located in Lantana, Florida, 6 miles south of PBI.
- It is a reliever airport focusing on general aviation reciprocating and turbine drive aircraft.
- LNA is busy with a mix of both fixed-wing and helicopters.
- There is no air traffic control tower, and the common air traffic advisory frequency is 122.70. There are currently no landing fees at LNA.
- LNA has three runways which are located in a triangle layout. The longest runway, 10 - 28 is 3,489’ in length and 75’ wide.
- The airport is supported by one fixed base operator (StellarAviation) and can be reached at 561-656-9815.

The field also has several flight schools, aircraft maintenance and a propeller shop.

Paint Your Heart Out paints the exterior of qualifying single-family homes with the SWA’s recycled paint at no cost to the homeowner.
