This June, we’re celebrating fathers and the pivotal role they play in their families, communities, and society as a whole. With Father’s Day on June 15 and the entire month recognized as Responsible Fatherhood Month, it’s the perfect time to honor dads and father figures for all they do.

Parents as Teachers provides parents with the knowledge and tools that support the health and development of young children at every stage. All services are home-based or virtual, voluntary, and at no cost to families.

Did You Know?

Research shows that being an active and nurturing father, starting even before your child is born, can support your child’s brain development and lay the foundation for long-term success. Your presence and involvement can influence everything from school achievement and behavior to emotional well-being and future success.

Fatherhood Resources is an integral part of Bright Beginnings’ Parent Support Department, dedicated to empowering dads to overcome obstacles and celebrate their successes on the journey to becoming the fathers they aspire to be.

Spotlight on: Bryce Brown

In the spirit of showing up, we’re spotlighting Bryce Brown. Bryce is an incredible father who is involved in our Fatherhood Resources services and participates in our Parents as Teachers program. He’s a dedicated dad (and basketball coach) to Breleigh (9), Brielle (3), and Brazil (9 months)—though he’s not coaching Brazil just yet!

We asked Bryce a couple of questions about his fatherhood journey:

What is one thing your child has taught you

about life?

"That no matter what, I’m always one poked lip or puppy dog eyes away from saying yes."

What’s your favorite part about being a dad?

"Honestly coming home, opening the door and hearing quick - but thunderous - footsteps of energy charging towards me, ready to leap into my arms for hugs. That’s when I get to confirm that every move I make is done with their future in mind. The best part about being a dad is knowing that God trusted me to lead them."

An excerpt from "Support for Fathers: Becoming a Father is a Life-Changing Event"

"For many men, becoming a father brings a rush of powerful emotions. All at once, there is pride, joy, and a sense of accomplishment. Along with those feelings, there may also be worry and a stronger sense of responsibility. As these emotions and thoughts happen, another question often comes up: “Now what?!”
