Two Faculty Members Named 'Distinguished Professor'
Earlier this week, the Rutgers University Board of Governors named two of the medical school's esteemed faculty members as Distinguished Professors.

Congratulations to Cheryl F. Dreyfus, PhD , professor and chair, Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, and Benjamin F. Crabtree, PhD , professor of Family Medicine and Community Health!

Dr. Dreyfus joined the faculty of the medical school in 1990 as associate professor and was named chair in 2011, after serving for five years as acting chair for the department. She was recognized by the Board for her leadership in the field of neurotrophic factors and neuron-glial communication. Her pioneering research has helped in the development of new therapies to improve remyelination, which could be of significant clinical benefit for degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease.

Dr. Crabtree joined Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in 1999, leading the research division of the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health for 16 years. A medical anthropologist, he was recognized by the Board for his groundbreaking research and work toward understanding and improving family medicine and primary care delivery, and in health care qualitative research.

Congratulations to you both!
Dr. Ananth Receives President's Award from SPER
The Society for Pediatric and Perinatal Epidemiologic Research (SPER) presented Cande Ananth, PhD, professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive services, with the 2019 President’s Award on June 18. The award recognizes and honors an SPER member who has given significant, dedicated, and sustained service to the society.

SPER said of Dr. Ananth, "This award is in recognition of your invaluable contribution to the Society. Over the years, by serving a longer term as treasurer -- during which you put our finances in order -- and a term as president. Furthermore, you have worked tirelessly as the editor of Paediatric and Perinatal Epidemiology to raise the caliber of the journal and to strengthen its connection with SPER. We truly appreciate your continued commitment over the years."

Congratulations, Dr. Ananth!
Congratulations to Our May Employee of the Month!
Congratulations to Stacy Quinn , secretary I in the Division of Child Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities, Department of Pediatrics, who was named May's Employee of the Month.

Stacy was nominated by Vikram Bhise, MD , associate professor and chief of the division, who said, "Stacy has been the backbone to the pediatric neurology division for the past 30 years. She has the most remarkable skill in helping families in need, and coordinating medical services at the school and hospital. She has always been extremely dependable and precise in her work, able to multitask and handle many activities at once. She has been a role model to the others in the medical group, and consistently goes above and beyond the requirements of the job, never turning down the task because of difficulty or complexity. I cannot think of someone more hard-working and with better integrity at this institution. She has been one of the foundations at this medical school for many years and represents its very best."
