National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute Awards $2.43 Million to the Cardiology Division

Dr Partho Sengupta

Partho Sengupta, MD, DM, FACC, FASE, Henry Rutgers Professor of Cardiology and chief of the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases and Hypertension at the medical school and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, will lead a study funded by a $2.43 million grant from the National Institutes of Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. The award is for a period of four years.

The study will use artificial intelligence techniques to create software that can help identify high-risk patients, according to the project description on the NIH RePORTER site. It is hoped these techniques will help doctors and hospitals develop high-precision decision-support tools for early identification and referral of high-risk patients for individualized care at cardiac specialty clinics.

Congratulations to Dr. Sengupta and his team!
