The Death & Resurrection of Sun Myung Moon

The devil left. Angels came and ministered to him.

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.”  But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down, for it is written, “‘He will command his angels concerning you,’ and “‘On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus said to him, “Again it is written, ‘You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.’”  Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.  And he said to him, “All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship me.”  Then Jesus said to him, “Be gone, Satan! For it is written, “‘You shall worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve.’” Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and were ministering to him. Matt 4:1-11

“If God is loving me, why does he put me through such trials. Can you say that? Father himself had to go through such difficulty and even in prison there was not a single moment when he complained to God. Rather, he consoled God’s heart. In that situation, he said to himself, ‘I am the Son of God. I have dominion over the angels, over Satan. I will not be defeated. I will not look or be miserable under their persecution.’ What He was worried about was God’s Heart worrying about him. What I would tell God is ‘God don’t worry about me at all. I am sound and sane, and ready to win over Satan.’ “ SMM, “Change of Blood Lineage” 1973

Hello Richard,

Gregg Noll gave the Sunday service while Hyung Jin Nim recovers from his cold. Gregg spoke about True Father’s life. His family converted to Christianity in the midst of Japanese persecution. At age 15, Yong Myung Moon (whose name was changed to Sun Myung Moon in 1946) was praying all night asking God why He created a world that was filled with so much pain and sorrow? Early Easter morning Jesus appeared to him.

Jesus told him, “God is in GREAT SORROW because of the pain of humankind. You must take on a special mission having to do with Heaven’s work.” Jesus explained that his mission was not completed due to Israel’s faithlessness. Knowing the seriousness of this task, Father rejected Jesus’ requests twice, but finally accepted the third time. From that moment his life would forever change.

He interviewed the providential figures in the spirit world and the cause of the Fall. He sought a full understanding of their missions, their success or failure, as well as their understanding of the heart of God’s expectation for their life’s missions. It took him 9 years to research what we now call the Divine Principle.

After the end of WW2 and the defeat of Japan there was an opportunity for Father to influence the formation of the new Korean government. When that did not work out, Father returned home. God had supported his marriage to a prominent Christian woman named Choi whose family was deeply involved in the persecuted church leadership in Seoul.

At the time Seoul was totally impoverished with no food available. Father learned that one of the groups he had good relationships with outside of Seoul in a rural area had rice which had been secretly withheld from the Japanese.

Father left to get rice for his followers and family. On the way God gave him the revelation to go immediately to Pyungyang in now Communist North Korea. God said he must find one prepared man there, and three prepared women, as well as restore Jesus’ 12 disciples. Father left immediately, not even notifying his wife with his 6-week-old baby son. This course ultimately led Father to torture, death and resurrection in the Heung Nam death camp.

2-25-2024 Sunday Service "True Father's Course"

Jesus fulfilled on Golgotha, the preservation of His unassailable and eternal spiritual authority intact and unaffected by the temporal physical conditions such as the life or death of his physical body. In his case he fulfilled spiritual resurrection.

Father in like manner fulfilled this principle of death and physical resurrection on six occasions since taking on Christ’s mission. 2 times while imprisoned by Japanese, 3 times while persecuted in Seoul, as well as in the Communist death camp which was the core of His victory.

In each case, he was tortured to the extent the tortures deemed him dead, and ceased torturing and hauled off his body, back to his prison cell, and in one case threw him onto the garbage heap outside the prison. In each case, He regained consciousness, and resumed his practice of true love pursuing his mission and promise to God and Jesus.

Although his body was damaged, His mind was burning with God’s eternal love and life, and his body was renewed.

Father has explained in detail about the attitude of His spiritual content during the times of torture, death and resurrection in a speech he gave in 1973.

Father was praying for the torturer. After the 3rd time, the torturer confessed he had once been a faithful believer but after the defeat of Japan and the rise of the Communist government, he was offered a job in the prison and indoctrinated in Marxism-Leninism.

Father was returned to the general prison population, where he restored 12 disciples who united with him even at the risk of death. There were spies everywhere, and to even mention one word of God, or any alliances besides the government approved thought meant immediate death. They wished to be Father’s disciple even in death.

Constitution of the Kingdom of God in 7 Minutes

Satan now had no more basis to accuse or impact Father and his 12 disciples. There was no reciprocal base or relationship with Satan as the false subject to Father nor his foundation for the Messiah, 12 disciples.

God brought the UN troops to free them. They carpet bombed the prison and the entire area on the very day of Satan’s baseless plan for Father’s execution by the prison staff. The prison staff knew that UN forces were nearing Heung Nam so they started executing all prisoners by number. Fathers prison number was 596, and his number was scheduled for the day the bombing began. At the start of the bombing all guards fled the prison.

Father told all his disciples to stay within 5 meters of him and they would be safe. After the bombing was over, Father and his followers walked out of the prison and were free.

Gregg then shared about some of his own challenges of faith. When you follow God’s path, people don’t like you and send hate mail. These are the challenges all of us must face when we take up our own crosses to follow the Lord.

It is a waste of Satan’s energy to bother a perfected man. He is powerless. When we unite our heart, mind and body with Christ, Satan also has to leave us. Don’t worry about yourself. Worry about God’s will and others.
