Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I pray this message finds you walking closely with the Lord and grounded firmly in His Word. This week's sermon on 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 addressed a sobering reality that we must understand as believers living in these last days.

Summary: The sermon explored the nature, power, and deception of the Antichrist during the tribulation period, and more importantly, how deception operates in our world today. We examined how the Antichrist will come with satanic power, performing signs and wonders that will deceive those who have rejected the truth of the gospel. This isn't just future prophecy—it's a warning for us now. The spirit of antichrist is already at work in our world, preparing hearts to accept lies rather than truth. The implications for our spiritual life are profound: we must be students of Scripture, discerning truth from error, and holding fast to objective truth in a world drowning in subjectivism and relativism.

Takeaways:

  • Deception requires our participation. God will not force anyone to believe the truth or reject lies. Those who perish do so because "they did not receive the love of the truth" (v. 10). We must actively welcome and embrace God's Word, not passively reject it. Every person chooses their eternal destination.

  • Miracles alone don't validate truth. The Antichrist will perform signs, wonders, and miracles—but his source is Satan, not God. We cannot assess spiritual truth based solely on supernatural manifestations. Everything must align with Scripture. This is critically important in our day when many follow experiences rather than examining doctrine.

  • The consequences of rejecting truth are eternal. God's judgment isn't arbitrary or unloving—it honors the free will choice of every person. Those who continually reject the gospel and "had pleasure in unrighteousness" (v. 12) will face the just verdict they've chosen. This should drive us to urgency in sharing the gospel and living as witnesses to the truth.

The mirror of the gospel shows us who we truly are—sinners in need of a Savior. Some of us check our physical appearance multiple times daily, but refuse to look honestly at our spiritual condition. Today is the day of salvation. If you've been putting off a decision for Christ, or if you've been living with one foot in the world and one in the church, God is calling you to genuine repentance and wholehearted commitment.

Let us be people who love the truth, study the Word diligently, and live as lights in an increasingly dark world. The deception around us will only intensify, but we have the mind of Christ, the Holy Spirit, and the unchanging Word of God.

In Christ's Service,

Pastor Xavier Ries
