Helping Needy Families Have A Brighter Future

We all want to put 2020 in the rear-view mirror as soon as possible. We hope a new year means a new beginning for our city, state, country and the world...a fresh start, a vaccine that will turn the tide against this insideous virus, of a return to normalcy (whatever that is) and prosperity. We truly believe better times are ahead and let's hope it's soon but the reality is many are hurting - fear, loss of jobs, financial pressures, kids at home and health concerns. Even in the best of times Help Give Hope's work is never done but in this year of the pandemic, what we do has never been more important, timely and needed.

Christmas 2020 will be unlike anything any of us have ever experienced. Truthfully, we weren't sure what to expect going into the holiday season. But as they've done for the past 39 years, our HGH family has risen to the occasion! We had a plentiful supply of volunteers for shopping and auditing and are excited as we approach wrapping and distribution.

Normally in these newsletters, we profile and promote a number of our upcoming activities and fundraisers. But for December, let's focus solely on the Christmas project and the culmination of nearly four months of planning and hard work. Here's what we've been up to in recent weeks and what lies ahead.

An annual national day of giving, always the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving (Tuesday, December 1st this year). If you are considering making a donation to a charity of your choice on Giving Tuesday, be aware many companies provide matching funds. In fact, some companies, such as Chase, will donate $2 for every $1 an employee donates to a qualified non-profit.

We had a great volunteer shopper turnout Monday & Tuesday, November 16th & 17th, at the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Ozark. Help Give Hope was assigned its own special entrance/exit with private check-out lanes and coupled with the amazing weather, it could not have been more perfect. We audited all purchases Wednesday, November 18th and reshopping is complete in preparation for our big 2-day wrapping party followed by gift distribution.

Below is the schedule and we hope you will join us for all things Christmas at HGH!

Wrapping Party:
When: December 11th & 12th, 9am to approx. 1pm both days
Where: HGH warehouse
Come one, come all!! WE NEED LOTS OF WRAPPERS BOTH DAYS!! Wrap for an hour or all day. We will adhere to CDC Covid guidelines regarding masks, social distancing (appropriate spaces between tables) and handwashing.

The week of December 14th all gifts will be distributed to our 182 families. Once again, our priority is the safety and health of our HGH family of volunteers and employees as well as those who have come to us for help.

A sea of bikes sure to bring smiles to hundreds of kids
Boxes full of clothing, toys, household items and much more waiting to be wrapped
Furniture and appliances with more on the way
Tubs waiting to be filled with food, cleaning supplies & toiletries
Several of our many loyal shoppers
