December 2021 e-Grapevine
Trustees Corner
We hope you and your families enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving last week. In the spirit of gratitude, we’d like to extend our thanks to Concord residents for the renewal of the Fire Operations Levy. This does not create any new taxes but does allow us to operate the stations. “It allows us to keep the lights on” as Chief Sabo reminds us. The levy covers salary, benefits, uniforms and more for our fire department.

We would like to extend congratulations to two of our trustees on their re-election. Both Carl Dondorfer and Amy Lucci were re-elected in November to serve our community in the Trustee positions. â€śI am honored to serve with both Amy and Carl. We have great chemistry and we all love serving this amazing community as a team. I am excited to continue working with them and continuing our efforts for Concord Township and its residents,” commented Morgan McIntosh, Trustee.

Our Fire Station #1 Project bids were received and opened. All 10 bids were deemed responsive and were read at the Nov. 17th Trustee meeting. Watch here. The Pinnacle Construction Group bid for $9,864,618 received the winning vote. We are excited for the next phase of the project to begin and will keep you posted on the progress and the groundbreaking ceremony.

We are taking additional measures to ensure the safety of the residents in our community. We have entered into a contract with Lake County Sheriff’s office for policing services to add two deputies dedicated exclusively to Concord Township which brings our total to nine deputies.
“It is responsible and prudent to enter into this contract. The two additional deputies will bring us to nine total deputies who will protect and serve the residents of Concord Township. One will be funded by a grant provided by the Lake County Clerk of Courts and the Lake County Commissioners and the other by Concord Township.” stated Trustee Dondorfer.

Make sure you check out the Recreation Department’s many classes and festive events this month. We are looking forward to 2022 and the Bicentennial of our great Township! Have a wonderful Holiday season!

The Concord Cemetery staff wishes you Happy Holiday Season.
The Service Department hopes everyone had a great Thanksgiving. The Yard Waste drop off closed on November 30th at 2:30pm. Many residents took advantage of the drop off this year. We remind residents who still accumulate yard waste after the November 30th date that they can take their yard waste to MRLM in Mentor, located on Heisley Rd.

As winter approaches, motorists are reminded to allow more time for travel and to give the plow trucks plenty of room to perform their operations. Concords snow plow crews are ready to respond when the snow flies. The crews practice smart salting techniques to help reduce the amount of salt used and lesson the impact on the environment. The Service Department monitors the weather during the winter season and tries to gather the all the best information for predicting the snow.  While sometimes, it is difficult to predict the Service Departments goal is to get out and treat the roads before they get to bad.

Residents who wish to protect their mailboxes can purchase a Snow Barricade through the Service Department for $50.00. Applications can be found on the Concord Township website under forms and applications located in the top tool bar of the webpage. For information or to report any concerns residents may contact the Service Department Monday – Friday from 7am-3:30pm at 440-350-3225 or by email at concordtwp.com under Service Department. The Service Department hopes everyone has a safe and healthy holiday season.
