BIG NEWS FROM THE LITTLE BIG HORN
Museum Welcomes New Addition

The Desert Museum is excited to announce the birth of a Big Horn lamb on Saturday, May 10. The lamb was born to a ewe that recently arrived from the Los Angeles Zoo, and is the first born at the Museum since 2007. The lamb is inquisitive, agile, and has been busy exploring its new home. It can be seen in the habitat frolicking as newborns do. You'll likely to be surprised by how quickly lambs adapt to steep terrain! Learn more

RIVER OTTER TAKES TO TWITTER
World's First Tweeting Otter!

Twitter just got a whole lot cuter - the Museum's river otter is now live tweeting! @desertotter dishes on her daily life, other animals, and Museum events, all without opposable thumbs. The otter achieves this through a system developed by a group of engineering students from Salpointe Catholic High School and their mentors from Rincon Research Corporation. As she moves around the exhibit, motion sensor cameras capture photos, which trigger tweets, which post to Twitter. And because everyone on Twitter needs a name, the Museum is holding a naming contest for her. Submit your favorite name today!
