RAPTOR FREE FLIGHT TAKES OFF!
Grab Your Cameras!
The birds are gearing up - Raptor Free Flight launches for the season on October 18! This presentation, a favorite of Museum visitors, puts you in the flight path as native birds of prey swoop and soar right above your head. The action takes place in the open desert to showcase the birds in their natural habitat. Different birds fly in each of the two presentations at 10:00 am and 2:00 pm daily.
CREATURE FEATURES AT THE BOO!SEUM
Celebrate October 25 & 26 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
If you prefer your Halloween to be a bit more "treat" than "trick," then you won't want to miss Creature Features at the Boo!seum, the very first Halloween weekend event at the Museum.Visit the activity stations, then unscramble the clues to get a treat! You can also meet some of the Museum's "Halloween" animals, visit the decorated insect exhibits, and vote for your favorite in the carved pumpkin contest.As a bonus, kids (12 & under) in a Sonoran Desert plant, animal or mineral costume get in FREE!

On October 26 at 10:30 am, Executive Director, Craig Ivanyi, will share with you current projects and plans for the future of the Museum. Learn about new animals added to the Museum's animal collection as well as updates on breeding programs. Plus, see how the Museum's "animal ambassadors" are trained in preparation to meet the public. If you cherish the Museum, you'll want to attend and learn about the "behind the scenes" happenings.

CONSERVATION NEWS UPDATE
Museum Project Repatriates Tarahumara Frogs

For over 20 years, the Desert Museum has partnered with the Arizona Game and Fish Department in efforts to breed and repatriate Tarahumara frogs, which were extirpated from Arizona in the 1980s. This October, the latest release of frogs will hop into their new home in southern Arizona's Pajarito Mountains. About 800 frogs will be backpacked into a remote canyon where they will be released.
