2025 Year In Review

As we reflect on 2025, we’re proud to share the Michael Magro Foundation’s Year in Review, a look at the lives touched, the families supported, and the impact made possible because of you.

This document highlights the programs, partnerships, and moments that defined the past year, all rooted in our mission to provide support, relief, and hope to families facing pediatric cancer.

Thank you for standing with us and being part of every milestone along the way.

We invite you to take a moment to explore the incredible impact we created together.

Here’s What We’ve Been Up To

When Community Steps Into the Ring for Good

Long Island Fight for Charity is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that hosts an annual charity boxing event where local business professionals volunteer their time to train and step into the ring to raise funds for local causes. The event is one of Long Island’s premier charity fundraisers, uniquely blending networking with philanthropy.

A portion of the funds raised benefits Long Island Community Chest, which distributes grants to local nonprofit organizations. Earlier this month, at an event held at The Mansion at Oyster Bay, the Michael Magro Foundation was honored to receive a grant in the amount of $5,945.

Thank you for this generous support, and congratulations to all of the recipients.

A Meaningful Evening with Girl Scout Troop 922

Earlier this month, Terrie had the absolute honor of spending time with Girl Scout Troop 922 from Bellmore.

Together, we talked about the importance of giving back to children who are sick in the hospital, spreading kindness wherever we go, and showing up for our community and beyond. These incredible girls truly listened, asked thoughtful questions, and showed such compassion and empathy.

One of the most special moments was watching the girls bring in items to create comfort (distraction) bags for hospitalized children, small gestures filled with so much love. We shared meaningful conversations about being selfless, honoring big feelings, and how helping others has a powerful way of lifting our own hearts, too.

Moments like these are a beautiful reminder that kindness has no age limit. You’re never too young to make an impact, and these girls are already doing just that.

More Than a Game: The Rowyn Grace Classic

On January 10th, Hewlett High School was filled with energy, teamwork, and heart as the community came together. The school teamed up with the Michael Magro Foundation to put together the Rowyn Grace Classic. Jon Welsh, a basketball coach at Hewlett and the dad of 2-year-old Rowyn, teamed up with head coach and close friend Andy DeBernardo to coordinate this tournament.

Players from Hewlett HS Bulldogs, both JV and varsity playing Jericho and Long Beach schools. Friends and families packed the stands, and the spirit of giving was felt in every game played. This event was more than basketball; it was about standing together, showing compassion, and reminding the Welsh family that they are not alone.

Hewlett Booster Club had an amazing number of student volunteers selling raffles, snacks, and apparel. Many thanks to all donations from local eateries and all of our amazing Sponsors. The event raised $15,380.00 for this incredible family. It was truly an honor for the Michael Magro Foundation to be a part of this tournament.

Thank you to everyone who played, volunteered, donated, and cheered from the sidelines. Your support and generosity made this day truly meaningful and showed the incredible strength of our community.

Holiday Gift and Basket Donations Needed

Did you receive any unwanted holiday gifts that are still new and sitting in your closet? Instead of letting them go unused, consider donating them to the Michael Magro Foundation.

We are also collecting empty baskets to help us create raffle baskets for upcoming events. These donations allow us to raise vital funds that support families facing pediatric cancer.

Thank you for helping us turn unused/new items into meaningful impact.
