We are delighted to share with you a Tenebrae online worship service for Holy Week, brought to you by the children and youth of the diocese.

Join in Spring Training for conversation, prayer, learning |
|
Join us for Spring Training 2022 on Saturday, May 14 from 9:00 am -12:00 pm online via Zoom. Attendees can engage in a conversation between our own Bishop Brown, Bishop MacVean-Brown of Vermont, and Bishop Hirschfeld of New Hampshire as well as take part in two of the following workshops of their choice:

Celebrate the end of summer at Camp Bishopswood |
|
|
|
Start thinking about summer! Families and households from the Diocese of Maine are invited to celebrate the end of summer together at Camp Bishopswood. Spend a night or two cabin or tent camping while you swim, boat, hike, rest, and worship on scenic Lake Megunticook. All meals included.
There will be free diocese-wide programming during the day on Saturday, August 27 including worship with Bishop Brown. Come for the day or stay for the weekend!

Volunteers from St. Bartholomew's, Yarmouth were recently joined at St. Elizabeth's Jubilee Center in Portland by their new priest, the Rev. Amanda Gerken-Nelson. St. Bart's is one of seven Episcopal churches in Greater Portland that sponsor the low-barrier pantry serving non-food essentials. On this particular Tuesday, volunteers served 143 people!

The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, Portland is looking for a parish administrator who will serve as a receptionist and publishing of the bulletin and e-news, web and calendar management, as well as general administration and secretarial duties. Cheerful attitude, familiarity with the Episcopal Church, computer and organizational skills a plus. The position is for 30-40 hours a week, $35,000. For more information, contact the Very Rev. Volunteers throughout the diocese participated in a Zoom reading of The Passion According to St. Luke for Palm Sunday. A video of the reading of The Passion will be available on Sunday morning, April 10, on the diocesan YouTube channel at 8:30 am and diocesan Facebook page at 11:00 am.

The Rev. Holly Hoffmann, Priest in Charge of St. Saviour's, Bar Harbor, Church of Our Father, Hulls Cove, and St. Andrew and St. John, Southwest Harbor, along with Pastor Rob Benson of Bar Harbor Congregational Church, had the remarkable opportunity to interview John Bell of the Iona Community on Celtic Spirituality and Creation Care while he was visiting Maine.

St. Ann's springs forward with sanctuary updates
Parishioners at St. Ann's in Windham, experienced a restored sense of enthusiasm as they worshipped on March 27 in a refreshed and updated 48-year-old sanctuary. Rev. Tim Higgins said, “God wants St. Ann’s to be around for a very long time..."

Clark named Canon for Communications in Diocese of Maine
Katie Clark, formerly director of communications, has been named Canon for Communications for the Episcopal Diocese of Maine. The Rt. Rev. Thomas J. Brown, Bishop of Maine, says, "Katie's expertise to tell the Good News of God in Jesus Christ..."

The public water supply delivered to the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Sipayik contains high levels of carcinogens and is brown at certain times of year. Over the years, the state and a neighboring town have impeded tribal attempts to access water located on tribally-owned lands to bring clean water to a new elementary school and the larger community. LD 906 would remove those barriers, provide financial assistance to the local water district, and help the Passamaquoddy Tribe access clean drinking water at Sipayik.
Our Diocesan Justice Commission and Committee on Indian Relations invite you to join Passamaquoddy Tribal leaders and citizens, the Wabanaki Alliance and supporters next Monday, April 11 at 10:00 am outside the State House in Augusta for a Rally and March for Clean Drinking Water for the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Sipayik! We offer prayers of thanksgiving for two new music directors joining the diocese! St. Alban's, Cape Elizabeth has called Dr. Hentus van Rooyen. He will be coming from Bethany College in Lidsborg, Kansas where he is Assistant Professor of Sacred Music and the College Organist and Christ Episcopal Cathedral in Salina, Kansas to join them in June. |

The Cathedral of St. Luke, Portland has announced that Christian Clough will be their next Organist and Choirmaster. Christian is currently the Director of Music at St. Paul and the Redeemer Episcopal Church, Hyde Park in Chicago. St. Luke’s is absolutely thrilled that he will be joining them in August. Praise be to God! |

Attend Alive! A concert to benefit Ukraine on April 16 |
|
Oranbega Retreat Center in Orland will present Alive! A concert to benefit Ukraine featuring jazz and blues singer-songwriter Danie Ocean accompanied by the band Spence & Co. at the Center (36 Narramissic Drive) on Saturday, April 16, at 3:00 pm.
A suggested donation of $25 (more if you can, less if you can’t) will be routed to two of our favorite ways to assist Ukrainians: UNICEF’ s Children of Ukraine fund and World Central Kitchen, the food distribution organization.
The concert will take place outside, if the weather permits.The audience is invited to bring a rug or a folding chair, and their own snacks.There will be non-alcoholic drinks available. In the case of inclement weather, the concert will take place inside, and masks will be worn.
The Oranbega Retreat Center is a not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to support the arts and artists and to provide a space for creative work and spiritual uplift.
