In case you missed it: We recently shared that registration is now open for the upcoming Special Meeting on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Camp Weed & Cerveny Conference Center, starting at 1 p.m.

Lunch is available upon request between 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for an additional charge of $15. Please note on your registration if you want lunch before the Special Meeting.
Please complete and pay for your registration as soon as possible; the deadline is Sunday, June 1, 2025. Registrations cannot be accepted after that date.
If the registration fee presents a financial hardship, please reach out to the Standing Committee at standingcommittee@diocesefl.org.

Chrism Mass
On Monday, April 14, clergy from across the diocese came together for the annual Chrism Mass—a meaningful gathering of worship, renewal, and fellowship. Bishop Benhase blessed the holy oils, which clergy took back to their churches for use throughout the year.
It was a beautiful moment of unity and shared purpose, and we’re grateful to everyone who made it such a special day.

The Church Periodical Club is seeking applications for the Mile of Pennies grant. This grant provides funding for written materials to serve the needs of children from birth through high school. The maximum amount is $844.80, which represents one mile of pennies.
The application is simple and Martha Cox from St. John’s Cathedral (and Episcopal Children’s Services) will be happy to help support you in putting together your application, which includes a description of how you want to use the books and an itemized list of the materials (title/author/publisher/cost).
The twist is that the applications are due early next week so if you are interested, please reach out to Martha at marthacox726@gmail.com or call 904.535.0420.

Diocesan Cuba Committee Meeting
On May 3 at 10 a.m., the next Area Diocesan Cuba Committee Meeting will take place in the Page Parish Hall at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 101 NE First Street, Gainesville, FL 32601.
The meeting will be led by Chair Dr. Julie Sullivan, whose dedication has brought new life to this ministry through leadership, regular area meetings, and ongoing support for companions in Cuba.
If you're able, please bring a small lunch item to share, and be sure to RSVP to Julie with your contact information to receive the agenda in advance.

History of Latino Ministry in the Episcopal Church
The conference will be held at Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C., next door to the National Cathedral. This year’s theme invites us to explore the rich and vibrant history of Latino Ministry in the Episcopal Church and Anglican tradition.
Conference Highlights Include:
- Keynote Address by the Rev. Dr. Anthony Guillén
- Featured Speaker: Ray Suarez
- Engaging panel discussions and workshops on parish history, oral history, archival practices, and more
- Opportunities for creative presentations and shared learning

Rakad Dance Camp at St. Peter's, Jacksonville: July 21-25
Join St. Peter's, Jacksonville, for a weeklong dance camp for all girls ages 5 to 12. Leadership and Volunteer positions are also available. No dance experience required.
About Rakad Dance Camp 2025
Rakad Dance Camp 2025 marks their 17th Annual summer camp. Throughout the week, campers will learn a new dance each day. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to work on art projects, play games, and participate in daily community service activities. At the heart of the camp experience are our small groups, where campers form friendships and focus on team building. This year, our theme is the beach, with daily life lessons inspired by the ocean and shore. You won't want to miss out on the fun!
Be sure to register early, as spots are limited.

On Sunday, March 30, the Church of the Ascension in Carrabelle warmly welcomed The Right Reverend William H. Stokes, Bishop Assisting in the Diocese of Florida, for a special visitation. Bishop Stokes presided over the rites of Confirmation, Reaffirmation, and Reception, making it a joyful and spirit-filled day in the life of the parish.
The service was led by The Reverend Phoebe McFarlin, Rector of Ascension, who joined the congregation in giving thanks for the renewed faith and commitment of those presented.

Historic Marker Dedication & Unveil at St. Augustine Episcopal Mission Church and School
On February 1, 2025, Holy Trinity, Gainesville, hosted a historic event honoring the legacy of the St. Augustine Episcopal Mission Church and School.
The ceremony, held at the original church site, celebrated its rich history as the first Anglican/Episcopal Mission Church in Gainesville for "persons of color," established by the late Bishop Weed.
Keynote speaker The Rev. Hayden Crawford, an Afro-American Episcopal priest with deep family ties to the church, shared inspiring words. The event also featured eight-year-old child prodigy Master Wayne, from the Caring and Sharing Learning Center in Gainesville. Bishop Benhase also attended.

St. Michael and All Angels Campus Ministry
The St. Michael and All Angels (SMAA) Campus Ministry provided care packages to the FAMU Jazz Ensemble as a small token of their immense gratitude and heartfelt appreciation.
Their exceptional musical talents consistently enrich the worship services, bringing joy to the congregation.
The band will be traveling to Norfolk, VA 4/9-11 to participate in the Virginia Arts Festival HBCU Jazz Residency. This is a remarkable opportunity, and the parish is incredibly proud to support their participation in such a prestigious event.

St. James Music Press (SJMP) will award a grant to a church starting or revitalizing a music program. The grant aims to support new choir programs or established music ministries that add a new element by offering resources and professional support.
Elements awarded in the grant include:
- Complimentary one-year membership to St. James Music Press
- $1,000 to support ministry needs
- Quarterly program consultations with SJMP colleagues meant to help recipients maximize their SJMP membership, discuss program challenges, and celebrate/build upon program successes

Happening #153 took place on April 25-27 at Camp Weed. Hannah Miller (St. Mark’s, Jacksonville) served as the rector for Happening #153 alongside her core team; Murphy Bryant (St. Peter’s, Fernandina), Rhys Barrett (St. Francis-in-the-Field, Ponte Vedra), Melissa Bryant (St. Peter’s, Fernandina), and Courtland Eyrick (St. Mark’s, Jacksonville).

Summer Camp
There are just a few spots left in Senior and Final Sessions. Don’t miss out - register soon for a summer to remember at Camp Weed.
Programming includes a variety of activities to engage campers and to help promote their spiritual, physical, and mental growth. Activities include kayaking, archery, ropes course, swimming, arts and crafts, worship, and so much more. Campers are divided into large groups, small groups, and cabin groups throughout the day to give them opportunities to get to know others, themselves, and God a little bit better.

Honor Mom with a delicious lunch buffet at Camp Weed and Cerveny Conference Center on Sunday, May 11!
The buffet menu includes an assortment of salads, mains, vegetables, and desserts. Each mom in attendance will receive a flower. Take family photos by White Lake.
Choose one of three seating times: 11 am, Noon, and 1 pm. Please arrive within 15 minutes of your reservation time.
