Hello Ken,

The season of graduation always makes me pause. Whether it's a kindergarten moving-up ceremony or a high school senior walking across the stage, each milestone marks more than academic achievement; they are indelible moments of progress in the story of each of our families.

As we wrap up the 2024-25 school year, I am grateful to be on this journey with this dedicated community. Here’s to all our students and families celebrating a new chapter!

Now to a quick roundup of the news you need to know:

  • May Board Meeting: Monday, May 5 at 2:30 pm. The work session includes a strategic plan update, facilities master plan discussion, along with district progress on literacy. Here is the agenda.
  • "Field of Dreams" Pool Proposal Town Hall: This past week the Virginia-Highland Civic Association (VHCA) hosted a town hall for the community to discuss a proposal for the construction of a pool on APS land across from VHE. Thanks to VHCA for facilitating this conversation. The presentation is here as well as some of the questions that were the subject of the discussion.
  • Last day of school is Thursday, May 29: Here is the calendar so you can be prepared when you see your children sleeping-in during the week.
