“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” – Ronald Reagan, former U.S. President

How to make Hybrid meetings work!

Region 6 presented a workshop titled How to make Hybrid meetings work! The workshop facilitator was Alan Shaner, DTM, PID. The information collected from Alan will help us decide whether or not having a Hybrid club is the correct choice. I want you to find fifty-five minutes to review it. I found the workshop enlightening. You will too!

For Division Directors, Area Directors, Club Presidents & VPs Education District 60 Alignment Process Begins

Each year, Districts are mandated to make alignment changes to account for new clubs, lost clubs, and clubs that change meeting location.

What is Alignment? Toastmasters International sets requirements for how to group clubs in the District:

An Alignment Committee is tasked with creating plans that serve the needs of clubs in District 60 for your consideration. Division Directors, Area Directors, Club Presidents, and VPs Education are members of the District Council and will vote on an alignment proposal at the Annual Business Meeting in April 2022.

What does this mean for you? We will require your input on your club’s status by November 30, 2021.

1.      Look out for an email from the Alignment Committee

2.      Respond to questions about club status and meeting information

3.      Visit the District 60 website for on-going updates to the Alignment proposal at: https://www.toastmasters60.com/alignment60/

The objective is to have balanced Areas with a mixture of high performing clubs with new clubs and those with growth opportunities, while keeping in mind the location and meeting times of the clubs.

Yours in Toastmasters,

Alison Knibb, DTM

New club leads

Identify a lead that results in a new club chartering by June 30, 2022 to receive a Toastmasters laptop backpack. That lead can come from a fellow Toastmaster, friend, neighbour or relative that wish to form a club at work or at a local community centre (i.e. library, church, social club). If it is to be a corporate club, it needs to have 200+ employees to be viable.

If you have such a lead contact your District 60 Club Growth Director at [email protected].

District 60 Welcomes the World!

The District 60 Outreach Program invites Toastmasters clubs from all over the world to attend District 60 club meetings from participating clubs. This program kicked off at the end of July with 32 clubs opting to participate in the program. This is over 25% of our clubs in District 60. This program promotes building bridges and camaraderie with our fellow Toastmasters from around the world in the spirit of friendship and collaboration. A link of all participating clubs can be found at:

 https://bit.ly/D60 Outreach_Program of Participating_Clubs

The D60 Outreach Program has invited almost the entire world, with only a few countries left to be contacted to visit the 32 clubs in D60 participating in the Outreach Program. More international clubs will be invited to attend. We have received acknowledgement from several clubs that they have shared the invitation with members of their club.

The following email is from Oman. By the way Oman is a country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in Western Asia.

Dear TM Bruce,

This is such an excellent initiative!!! Love it!

We are truly honored to receive your invitation. I will get this message across to our club members and we will certainly attend some club meetings.

Regards,

Jameel MS

Annual Conference

Each spring, the District meets to conduct an annual conference that includes a business meeting to elect the new District leadership and the International Speech Contest.

The business meeting and International Speech Contest will be held online. We would also like to have a one-day in-person event that will include educational workshops and a keynote speaker.

The Communication and Leadership presentation (honouring an outstanding non-Toastmaster) and the George Keenan award for an exceptional Toastmaster ... along with great food, camaraderie, laughter and fun!

If you would like to be part of the organizing committee for the one-day event (in April), please contact Andrew Mertens, our Program Quality Director at [email protected].

Keep your club information current for prospective members

Make sure your club's contact information is accurate so you don't miss important club-related items such as prospective-members inquiries or news from World Headquarters. Log into Club Central on the Toastmasters website and make any necessary updates.
