Youth and Teen Programs Update

July 28, 2020

Introducing Adventure Zone, El Dorado Hills CSD's New & Improved After-School Program Opening August 2020!
Dear Residents and Greater Community,

The District is pleased to introduce the El Dorado Hills Community Services District's staff led-afterschool program, Adventure Zone, slated to begin August 17, 2020!

What can be expected at Adventure Zone?
Adventure Zone is operated by the El Dorado Hills CSD Recreation Department with the purpose to provide a safe, caring, and enriching environment for your child after school.

A variety of age-appropriate, and integrated activities will be provided under the guidance of trained personnel. Children are encouraged to be actively involved so that they develop social skills and learn to make responsible choices within the program's structure. District staff provides the children with a variety of opportunities to participate in art, science, and outdoor activities as well as time for homework and fun.

Adventure Zone will also include use of a highly secure online emergency network called ePACT, which collects medical and emergency information for all participants, eliminating the use of paper forms. Using ePACT means staff will be better prepared to deal with any emergency, big or small as well as more accurate, up-to-date, and legible information over the paper forms we’ve used in the past. Because it is web-based, staff and parents can securely access the system via smartphone, tablet, or computer, so it’s always accessible whether at the park or during a field trip. Tap the Parent Handbook button above for more details about Adventure Zone!

Is there a schedule at Adventure Zone?
Yes, the weekly schedule will follow the timeline below, and scheduled activities are subject to change. Monday - Friday 2:00pm - 6:00pm, and Wednesday 1:00pm to 6:00pm.

2:00-2:45 pm Free Time/Activities (Schools are released at different times; please refer to your child’s school bell schedule for exact times).
2:45-3:30 pm Quiet Time (Homework, Reading or Writing)
3:30-3:45 pm Snack time (Not provided by CSD)
3:45-5:00 pm Group Activities
5:00-6:00 pm Free Time

What safety protocols are in place?
Our priority remains to be the health and safety of participants, staff, and the community. To operate safely during COVID-19, all Youth and Teen Services, including Adventure Zone, will include specific safety protocols to mitigate the spread of germs, including daily screening and temperature checks, enhanced cleaning procedures, and encouraging proper hygiene practices, and utilizing social distancing measures between groups.

Who will wear masks?
Staff and Supervisors will be wearing a mask at all times. Parents are expected to wear a mask when picking the child(ren) up from Adventure Zone. Participants will not be required to wear a mask but can wear one if desired.

How Can I register?
Registration will operate similar to 2020 Summer Camp, where El Dorado Hills residents have the opportunity to register on a first-come, first-served basis beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29, at 6:00 pm. Waitlist registration will open online for Kinder through 5th grade, and families only need to register ONE person from their family to the waitlist. Our staff will call you back in waitlist order the following day, Thursday, July 30, 2020, to add additional family members, gather all registration information, and payment for the first week.

A waitlist for other grades will be accepted, with the expectation to fill additional needs as demand, and appropriate staffing is acquired.

Register Now! (this link will be LIVE tomorrow, Wednesday, July 29th at 6:00pm)

What is the Tuition?
Please Note: The after school program, Adventure Zone, will not follow the previous hourly fee structure. Tuition will be a weekly rate of $95, and families will need to commit to being in the program the entire semester (August 2020 through December 2020).

As our priority revolves around the health and safety of participants, staff, and the community, any new guidance from our County Health Officer, Dr. Nancy Williams, may have an impact on Adventure Zone operations.

Looking to the future, I feel honored to lead a talented team who is eager to provide children in El Dorado Hills with a safe, caring, and enriching after-school environment. Safely enjoy the rest of summer, and know that we look forward to welcoming you back on August 17th!

Sincerely,

Michael Cottrell
