Governor Healey Tasks Economic Development Council with Statewide Listening Sessions
In May, Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey convened the state’s Economic Development Planning Council. Made up of leaders from a diversity of backgrounds and regions, the council held engagement sessions across the state to gather public input about the state’s economic development needs and opportunities. Director of our Economic & Public Policy Research group, Dr. Mark Melnik, joined them on the tour.

The Early Childhood Educator Apprenticeship Program was recently launched at Self Help Inc. Head Start in Brockton. The program is a collaborative effort between the MassHire Greater Brockton Workforce Board and two groups from the institute. Read more.

Socioeconomic Indicators for Massachusetts: Prepared by the Massachusetts State Data Center (SDC), this report may be relevant in evaluating the Commonwealth's economic and financial conditions and prospects. However, the economic and demographic data do not necessarily present all factors that may have a bearing on the state's fiscal and economic affairs. (March 2023)

The Critical Need for Human Service Workers:Between 2016 and 2020, employment at Massachusetts human services nonprofits declined 10%, while the number of establishments providing human services increased by 11%, emphasizing the difficulty providers have had filling open positions while responding to increased community needs.
