Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026
- The Dorchester Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee created a series of questions for each of the local positions up for election in 2026. The questions are based on topics the committee believes are of concern to our members. It is by no means meant to be a comprehensive list of all voter concerns but will provide insight on candidate positions on key issues that would have an impact on the business community. The questions were provided to all candidates, even those running unopposed, to give all an equal chance to present their positions.
- The following links will take you to candidate responses that can be reviewed and downloaded. The responses are grouped by position and there is one file for each. Questions are listed in order with all responses for each question grouped together with candidate responses listed in order by candidate last name.

Cambridge Emerges as Leading Overnight Alternative for St. Michaels Visitors
Cambridge appears to be benefiting from an unexpected source of tourism: visitors who come to St. Michaels but choose to spend the night elsewhere.
At the October 22 meeting of the St. Michaels Tourism Advisory Board, tourism officials reported that Cambridge had overtaken Easton as the leading overnight destination for visitors who come to St. Michaels but stay outside the town.
According to the town’s third-quarter tourism report, Cambridge accounted for more than 20% of these overnight stays, compared with approximately 6% in the previous quarter.
While these numbers represent a relatively small share of the overall St. Michaels tourism market, the shift suggests Cambridge is becoming a more significant lodging option for visitors exploring the Mid-Shore.

A day 30 years in the making for the Cambridge-Dorchester FOP
Cambridge, Md. — After three decades of waiting, the Cambridge-Dorchester Fraternal Order of Police broke ground on a new clubhouse Tuesday, as they hope to build a space for local law enforcement to come together.
Thomas Hurley has been president of the Cambridge-Dorchester FOP Lodge #27 for 32 years, and he’s been working on this project for 30 of them. Now, the ground has been broken.
“I was starting to wonder if I ever was going to do it, you know? But the longest journey begins with one step, and I’m almost, I believe, to the end of that journey of trying to complete this project,” Hurley said.
Hurley’s dream is to build a place for local officers to call home – have meetings – share history – and honor fallen officers.
“A lot of good, positive things can come from this building being here and is for the officers and their families. So, it’s very important to have it,” Hughes said.
He added that the FOP bought the land the structure will eventually be built on in 2017 and he realized the project he could get funding from grant money.
