Governor Shapiro Delivers 2026-27 Budget Address

On February 3, 2026, Governor Josh Shapiro delivered his annual budget address to the General Assembly, outlining his proposed Fiscal Year 2026–27. The proposal totaling approximately $53 billion, will now be reviewed and negotiated by the General Assembly in the months ahead.



The budget proposes $260.3 million for health programs, reflecting a 0.3% increase over the prior fiscal year. Within this total, the proposal includes $2.019 million to maintain the Pennsylvania Immunization Electronic Registry System (PIERS), which supports statewide immunization reporting and public health surveillance.

January Board of Trustee Meeting Wrap Up

In its first meeting of the year, the PAMED Board of Trustees reviewed several key business items, including newly introduced legislative proposals the organization will be monitoring, the future transition of the House of Delegates to an annual meeting format, and strategies to help board members stay engaged and connected to PAMED as leaders and representatives of their counties.


The board also appointed Joshua Dearing, MD and Margaret Atwell, MD to fill the 7th District Trustee and Senior Physician Section Trustee vacancies. PAMED Past President Peter S. Lund, MD was also approved to fill the Judicial Council vacancy, his term runs through the end of 2026.
