1. The Evolution Revolution

If you were to take the road less traveled today, where would it lead? You know, there is a road less traveled. It is a path of descent, that leads toward not only Earth-sustaining but life-enhancing communities. Communities where true Adults and Elders would raise children to bow instead of strut when in the presence of the Mystery of all life. Communities that, as part of a larger culture, move human evolution toward being in sync with the Dream of the Earth.
To be in sync with the Dream of the Earth is an image geologian and Earth Elder Thomas Berry used for a future time when the great work of every human profession and institution will be present to the Earth in a mutually enhancing manner. People will recognize that the natural world has, from its beginning, been a mystical as well as a physical reality, and that there can be no human community apart from the Earth community. Such ecocentric communities would hold the greater Earth community (the ecosphere) as central in importance, in contrast with both egocentrism (holding the individual conscious self as central) and anthropocentrism (holding humanity as central).
The heavily traveled road our societies are currently on is egocentric and possibly ecocidal. Bill Plotkin’s new book, The Journey of Soul Initiation: A Field Guide for Visionaries, Evolutionaries, and Revolutionaries, offers a form of deep cultural therapy for societies that have crumbled, folded into themselves, and become traumatized due to the loss of the practices and ceremonies that create true Adults and Elders. A culture that is known for its selfishness, greed, and apathy—sound familiar? At this moment in history, a spiritual and cultural transformation is desperately needed, a revolutionary shift in human evolution; in other words, an Evolution Revolution.
We are indeed fortunate that Plotkin’s new book offers a map to orient us on the road less traveled. The map includes the descent to soul, a path to true Adulthood. He calls for the Evolution Revolutionaries of the world to create Mystery Schools of experiential learning to guide and facilitate more and more people becoming true Adults. I assert that a vital aspect of the Illuman organization is being a Mystery School. Over the past two decades of walking shoulder to shoulder with men on the Journey of Illumination, I have witnessed some who have experienced their descent to soul and soul initiation—albeit, without a map.

12-Step Study – M.A.L.Es Anonymous

Beginning on February 17, 2021

The Saturday Morning Men’s Group of Illuman New Mexico is hosting a Wednesday evening twelve-step study for 13 weeks (Feb. 17 – May 12). All men from any-every Illuman chapter or any recovery program and newcomers are always welcomed. Many of us have discovered that recovery can be an expansive resource of healing, non-violence, forgiveness and inspiration in our men’s work. Recovery provides a simple step-by-step approach to rebuilding our lives and our self-confidence in an atmosphere of unconditional love. Our old defenses become not only unnecessary but clearly undesirable on our journey. In order to keep the edges hot, we are asking participants to make a strong commitment to yourself and to the group to meet for the entire 13 weeks. We will not be adding new members after the second meeting (February 24). |

Join the men of Illuman of Indiana and Michigan on this mini-retreat for an introduction to Centering Prayer (CP). Why would I want to practice CP? Is it difficult? What are the challenges of CP? During our time together, we will draw on the wisdom of Howard Thurman, Cynthia Bourgeault, Thomas Keating, Richard Rohr and others.
This mini-retreat will have a teaching component, allow time for reflection and include small-group council circles. We hope you will consider participating as we attempt to keep our edges hot during this long winter and time of Pandemic isolation.

A Father For Generation Alpha

This offering was designed by a group of Illuman Men to help new fathers meet other dads and share stories about what it means to be a man, husband, and Father. The offering includes eight, one-hour gatherings held weekly via Zoom and will be starting in March.
