We want to know about you!
Our goal is to improve the way we communicate with you by allowing you to define your passions and interests—the topics and issues that matter most to you. Common examples include:
- Masculinity and Men’s Issues
- Younger Men’s Issues
- Spiritual Growth and Personal Development
- Eldering
- Contemplative Spirituality/Mysticism
- Mentoring Younger Men
- Climate, Environment, and Ecology
- Racial Justice and Diversity
- Social / Political Action
- Relationships
- Family—Marriage, Divorce, Children, Parenting, Grandparenting, etc.
- Fear, Loneliness, and Anger
- Crisis, Illness, Trauma, and Grief
- Addiction
- Job loss, Retirement, and Aging
Based on your input, we intend to curate, create, and publish useful content that speaks to what matters most to you, introducing you to relevant and inspiring authors, videos, podcasts, websites, and many other resources. We know the right information at the right time can be a huge boon to your own continuing transformation.
This information will also help us better support your personal, spiritual growth—for instance, by enabling us to offer opportunities for connection, service, and mentoring around shared passions. Clarity about the issues that are nearest and dearest to your own heart can help us develop new ways that we "gather, connect, and serve."
Whether on personal issues or broader interests, we want to meet men where they are and help them receive the support they need to become whole, generative, loving men. With this information we could create opportunities for men with similar interests to learn collaboratively. Or we may be able to offer supportive "Passion Circles" for men dealing with specific personal issues like those listed above.
Service is another Illuman touchstone. The information you provide will help us provide mentors for newly initiated men in those crucial first few weeks following their Men's Rites of Passage experience. Mentors can provide a listening ear, guidance in establishing new personal spiritual practices, and inform initiates about programs and councils Illuman offers, both nationally and locally. This year, six Illuman chapters will initiate perhaps 200 new men through the Men's Rites of Passage. We would love to be able to pair each new initiate with an initiated man.
Thank you so much for your participation,
Steve Hicken, Illuman Board Chair

Illuman’s signature event, this 5-day, 4-night experience awakens men to the adventure and mystery of their own masculinity, their deep spirituality, their potential for leadership, and their life’s purpose. The MROP builds on the classic patterns of male initiation through simple and moving rituals and teaching.
If you or someone you know is interested in attending an MROP, there are several coming up in the next few months, and a total of six this year. Click on the links below to find out more about the ones nearest you.

A 9-week online cohort for Fathers and soon-to-be Fathers
Tuesday evenings at 6pm PST/9pm EST starting March 1st
|
|
Designed to meet new dads at a moment when life has initiated them into fatherhood. Meetings are just one hour each week. If you are a new or soon-to-be dad, then this course is for you! If there is someone like this in your life who might be interested in our journey together, please share this with them and encourage them to join us!
Here’s what Jim O’Neill, past President of Illuman of Pennsylvania, had to say about it:
"My eldest daughter got married in 2007 and I have been talking to my son-in-law about men’s work ever since. When I suggested A Father for Generation Alpha, he immediately signed up. When I asked him how he enjoyed the course, he spoke for over an hour about how impactful the course was for him. You see, my son-in-law is in the thick of it now: new job, new house, move across the country, three kids, and, of course, an amazing wife. His stress level is off the charts and he has been hiding that fact from himself and his family. This course has given him the awareness and the tools to slow down and be present. It has also given us a common language to continue our journey together."
There are still spots open and we start next week! See you on March 1st.

An opportunity to explore with other men how to make the journey of retirement the most satisfying, fulfilling, and personally captivating time of your life.
The presenter is Dr. Jim Healy, a popular speaker, writer and leader in men’s ministry. The seminar will address these questions: What are the spiritual and emotional challenges and rewards connected to retirement and the second half of life? In what ways can we hope for transformation and not just transition? How do we fully live into retirement’s promise?

A Retreat in St. Mary’s City, Maryland, April 1-2, 2022
Co-Sponsored by Illuman DC and Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Mary’s City
|
|
The Gifts of the Enneagram Retreat will provide numerous opportunities for exploration of this system of spiritual wisdom, whether you are new to the Enneagram or have been using it as a tool in your spiritual practice for years. Foundational information will be shared for each type to set the stage for deeper conversations. All that is required for participation is a willingness to be present in your body, have a curious mind, and bring an open heart.
Led by former Illuman administrator Brad Pickel, this weekend retreat will provide participants with opportunities to explore a mature spirituality through a deepening into the wisdom of the Enneagram. Through teachings and experiential opportunities, participants will be invited to explore the path to self-healing and wholeness using the Enneagram as a map and guide.

2nd Wednesday of every month
(held virtually on Zoom)
Hosted by Illuman of New Mexico
|
|
M.A.L.E. Anonis a fellowship of men who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to find spiritual solutions to their common problems. It is open to all men of any description, any background. Anybody who identifies as a male is welcomed, including those in transition. Men in M.A.L.E. Anon gain great relief from attending meetings and great recovery from working the 12 Steps. Therefore, attending meetings and working the steps are essential to our program. We believe that the 12 Steps offer a blueprint for becoming better human beings and better men and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.
We meet on Zoom the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 6:30–8:00 PM MST.
