Seasonal Synergy: The Dry Season

Our Skin: The Outward Physical Manifestation of Our Souls

When we think of the skin, we don't necessarily think of it as our largest organ. Yet, most of us have been judging our skin since we were young, noticing every blemish and imperfection. We really notice our skin when we feel there is problem with it. If there is a season that we notice the skin more often, it is Autumn: the Dry Season.

As a practitioner, my patients who see me for conditions like ecsema, psoriasis, cystic acne, skin allergies and simply patchy, dry skin during this season, come in with the most miserable emotional states regarding their symptoms.

To begin, the skin is our most visible organ and we are programmed to want to look good in public. People with skin conditions feel constant judgment from others and are incessantly judging themselves. There is true grief that is felt when people feel they cannot take part in life. They often feel as though they are not worthy of joining the crowd because of the condition of their skin...even though most other people will never notice what they are going through. People will often isolate themselves, denying themselves the human touch we need, increasing their loneliness and depriving themselves of interaction within their communities...which leads to more grief and sadness.

When I treat patients with skin conditions, I know that ultimately we will be digging way more than skin deep. I need to understand what they value, their sense of self-worth, their relationship with grief and their disdain for themselves as they struggle with chronic and VISIBLE illnesses and disease processes. In a judgmental world, I have found that those with skin pathologies are often misunderstood, appearing cold or inconsiderate, when they really simply are struggling to belong in a world that feels itchy, scratchy, or that they are on display in a negative way. Skin diseases are never just skin-deep.

Echoes of Ancient Wisdom: The Lung Meridian

The Lung Meridian Governs the Skin

Beyond Breathing: The Functions of the Lung Meridian

The Lung Meridian is the first to be employed after birth. We arrive and we MUST BREATHE in order to sustain life. It's not hard to see that this meridian opens into the Nose to govern respiration and that it's body fuid is nasal discharge. We have all experienced a cold and know that phlegm is a part of this experience; so it's not a leap to understand that the Lung stores the phlegm created by the Spleen meridian. The Lung does so much more than this through its surface tissue: the skin and outward manifestations of skin & body hair.

The Lung Meridian governs Qi and Respiration.

In order to nourish the Lung & Heart, the Lung forms Gathering Qi (air + food.) It governs the Qi of the entire body: Wei Qi (defensive Qi), Nutritive Qi (self-explanatory,) Pectoral Qi (Chest Qi...makes sense,) and Yuan Qi (Ancestral Qi: the Qi we receive from our parents DNA.) Qi is pronounced "chee".

The Lung Meridian Controls Dispersing & Descending

The Lung Official disperses Wei Qi (defensive qi) all over the body through the skin to warm the skin and protect the body from evil Qi (germ theory, if you will.) It disperses body fluids to the skin and hair to moisten the body & hair. It regulates the pores to control sweating. Lung Qi descends to promote circulation of Qi & body fluids.

The Lung Meridian Regulates Water Passages

The Lung Meridian controls the circulation and excretion of water. It sends fluid to the Kidneys and Urinary bladder to help with flow of urine and add moisture to its sister meridian, the Large Intestine. It opens and closes the pores to release heat & water in the form of sweating.

The Lung Meridian Houses Your Corporeal Soul: the Po

The Po is the most physical and material part of the human soul. It is the sense of yourself IN YOUR BODY. It can help you know where you are in space and time at any given time. For any gymnast that has ever experienced the "twisties" in the air, or any athlete that struggles emotionally and mentally to come back from an injury, this is a direct injury to the Po, and it takes meeting my patients on a mental/emotional level to help them heal fully. In this sense, the Lung Meridian is closely related to feelings and sensations, and affected deeply by grief and sadness. Taking deep breaths can calm us, whereas shallow breathing can scatter our energy and lead to hyperventilation and syncope.

If You Can't Breathe, You Can't Poop: The LU/LI Connection

While the Lung deals with the reception of life (again, you must breathe to live,) it partners with the Large Intesting meridian, which deals with the extrication of the minerals left in our stools and the evacuation of the life we consume along the way. This meridian is so closely tied that it is the first pair of things that must occur to keep life going: first we breathe, then we poop. Have you ever tried to breathe when you're constipated? There's a close tie between the activities. The more deeply you can breathe when constipated, the more likely the bowels will move (unless there is an obstruction, or a chronic disease process like IBS.)

Dry Brushing: A Guide to Benefits and Techniques

What is Dry Brushing?

Dry brushing is a skincare technique that involves using a soft-bristled brush on dry skin to promote circulation and exfoliation. The brush typically has natural bristles and a handle for easy reach.

Techniques for Dry Brushing:

  • Direction: Always brush towards your heart to support lymphatic drainage.
  • Motion: Use long, sweeping strokes on larger areas and circular motions on the anterior and posterior parts of your arms and legs.
  • Areas to Avoid: Do not brush over open wounds or skin conditions such as psoriasis or eczema.

Benefits of Dry Brushing:

  1. Improved Circulation: Stimulates the lymphatic system, helping to remove toxins from the body.
  2. Exfoliation: Effectively removes dead skin cells, leaving your skin smoother and brighter.
  3. Cellulite Reduction: May help reduce the appearance of cellulite through increased circulation and lymphatic drainage.

If you’re interested in adding dry brushing to your session, just let us know! We’d be happy to provide this rejuvenating experience.

Technological Advances in Healthcare: Red Light Therapy

The Red Light Therapy Experience

Red Light Therapy is a painless and relaxing service that takes 10 minutes. During your session, you’ll be in a private room with red light panels you’ll stand between. A trained expert will go over any questions you might have, turn on the Red Light Therapy machine and then leave to give you privacy. Clients usually remove their clothes to allow their skin to soak up the maximum amount of light during their session.

During your session, you’ll feel a mild warmth coming from the lights. We recommend that clients do not look directly at the lights during their session. If your eyes are sensitive to light, you can choose to wear your own sunglasses or use the goggles we provide. Whether or not your eyes are not sensitive to the light, we encourage clients to close their eyes, relax and soak up the glow!

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?

Red Light Therapy uses low levels of red and near-infrared light to help power your cells and promote healing and energy. The low wavelength produced by our Red Light Therapy machines can be absorbed by the mitochondria in your body, which are responsible for many important processes in your day-to-day health, healing abilities and energy production. This relaxing service may help the body promote healing, boost energy levels, relieve minor pain and swelling and balance your mood—all in as little as 10 minutes per day. Visit the local Red Light Therapy studio near you to learn more and experience the benefits.

Not only is this technology that Restore offers important as we move forward in medicine, but Restore is making it affordable for all, with all therapies costing $50 for non-members and $32 for Members of the organization.

We will continue to highlight what this amazing facility offers and encourage everyone to take advantage of this technology and become a member of Restore Hyper Wellness!

What is Red Light Therapy?

Coaches Corner: The Emotion of Grief & The Spirit World

The practitioners at Divinitude share membership in a unique club that no one wants to be a part of: we are both widows in this world. We both lost our husbands a year apart from each other. There are differences between us, as she is a single mom of two pre-teens and I am a single mom of adult children. But the hallmarks of grief within our experiences are exactly the same: grief comes in waves and there is no time frame for how long it takes.

October is a time of grief for us. It's not the date of death that holds us each year. It's all the things that we would have been doing together that they are no longer here for. Holidays, hallmark events, big transitions, as well as the minutaia that must be tended to alone...these moments creep up. For me, I am fine one second and sobbing the next. Grief demands its time, whenever it wants, in perpetuity, for the life no longer lived. It is hardest on the living until you consider the possibility of continuing your relationship in a multidimensional way. They are gone, but live inside you through memories, images, flashbacks, and just moments in time when you KNOW IN YOUR HEART that they are standing next to you, never wanting to see you suffer or continue to feel nothing but loss.

As all stories of deep loss are unique, I will discuss only mine and leave my coaching clients and business partner out of this. My story is not uncommon among my generation. I was married to my best friend in the world for twenty years when he had a massive sudden-death heart attack at the age of 51. My story becomes very uncommon when you factor in the entangled relationship we had and the fact that I am spiritually gifted. When my husband died, I understood that while he was no longer present physically, as a multidimensional being, he "lived" somewhere else beyond the 3rd dimension we reside in. I have understood and operated in the upper 4th dimension most of my life, with the ability to communicate with spirit from the time I was a little girl.

I have always been able to "hear" my husband. I can feel him everywhere. I understand the ways he continues to communicate with me...often very visibly with lights, no matter where I am. I talk to him everyday, throughout the day. I know that he watches over our children and they can feel him too. "The Dead" are NOT dead: they live on in higher realms and are quite busy connecting with us and watching over us while we continue to exist in a world that they can't TANGIBLY participate in. They still exist as a soul, simply without their bodies. They communicate in different ways, often sending "pennies from heaven" or signs like cardinals and butterflies or trinkets that are meaningful to the person they are communicating with. They communicate through music and media, and look for ways to move you to think of them. And know this: if you are thinking of them, they are right there with you. Need proof? See below.

When I sit with my clients, friends and family that are wrecked with their own grief, I try to help them realize that death is not the end of their interaction, but they must learn to believe in things they cannot see, but can sense in other ways. In the third density (dimension) we are limited by our senses and the known and seen world, but in the fourth dimension, the world of spirit, there are no such limitations. They move freely through a world we cannot see...but can definitely feel. In fact, most of the Unseen can be felt...by all of us...when we focus on it and believe it.

Find the ways your loved ones continue to communicate with you. Don't worry what other people think...we ALL need our loved ones in life and death. My husband sends coins, dragonflies, butterflies, music, crows, and large birds of prey to me at just the right times. How are your loved ones reaching out to you?

Chakral Connections: The Throat Chakra

In Chinese Medicine, the throat contains points that are sacred. The neck is considered the conduit between Heaven (the head) and Earth (the body.) So it's no surprise that in the first 7 Chakras in the body, the throat chakra is considered the Gateway to Consciousness. It all begins with sound. Every cell of our being is made up mostly of water and therefore is affected by every sound we hear and every sound we make. The Throat Chakra (Chakra 5) is how we receive and transmit information in this world through sound, creativity, vibration and self-expression.

Communication is how we bring our abstract thoughts and outside symbols into expressions that connect us with someone or something outside of ourselves. This includes telepathic communication in which one can "hear" from unseen sources...be it spirit guides, ancestors, or communication with your higher self or Source Consciousness directly. Communication is happening in every realm throughout the Multiverse. (Mind your thoughts...everything in the Multiverse is connected and your thoughts are heard everywhere.) In the Ascension process, we are moving beyond normal communication in which speech is necessary to telepathic communication, in which thought is the only necessary vehicle to communicate. While this may seem unreal to some and futuristic to others, most of us are communicating telepathically throughout the day.

Examples of Telepathy That WE ALL Experience:

  • Our animals are telepathic. They often know when we are about to be home from work or school before we arrive.
  • When we hear from someone we, too, have been thinking of all day
  • Intuitive feelings that something is wrong without any warnings.
  • Telepathic messages from loved ones who have passed in dreams.
  • An inability to stop thinking of someone for prolonged periods.
  • EMPATHY: The ability to "feel" what others are feeling in their bodies without being told directly how they are feeling.
  • Prayer & Meditation: Communication with our Higher Selves, Spirit Guides, Ancestors and Loved Ones, and Source Consciousness.

If you are struggling to communicate your truth, it is the Throat Chakra that must be addressed. This takes deep inner listening, first and foremost. Is it a lack of breath? A lack of INSPIRATION? Is there a block that keeps you from expressing your authentic nature to the world? One of the best ways to heal this chakra is by HUMMING. Your unique frequency is expressed throughout the body and CAN HEAL YOU by bathing every call you have in your God-Given unique expression of sound, which you are emitting and receiving at the same time.

If you feel you need to strengthen your telepathy, try strengthening your empathy. See if you can communicate without sound by sitting in front of your partner and deeply looking at each other for five minutes (if you can hold it that long...this is a deeply personal, often vulnerable experiment. Without saying a word, convey to your partner how you are feeling. Have your partner reciprocate and see what emotions emerge. Most people who engage in this exercise are often reduced to tears very quickly. They relay afterwards that it was painful to hold the gaze and reflect back what their partner was trying to tell them. It's a profound experience...one in which most report feeling seen and heard, without saying a word.
