Merrick Dedication & Open House Recap

On September 23, 2017, Merrick program participants, volunteers, staff, donors, community partners, and others came together to celebrate the exciting move. The event featured a special facility dedication to the Rory & Fran Ivory and Regina & Dick McCarthy families, who served as the former Merrick Community Services' Executive Directors and community leaders.

Guests learned about Merrick's work in the East Side community, explored the facility, and took part in a coinciding block party hosted by our friends and neighbors at Gustavus Adolphus Lutheran Church.

The Explorer's Club introduces youth to fun, challenging, and interactive
learning experiences in the areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), healthy living and life skills, and food science.

The goal of these introductory engagement tracks is not to steer youth into a career in science, but to plant the seed of discovery and learning. The Club hopes to create an environment where youth are actively participating in learning activities, demonstrating problem-solving skill s, and encouraged to be innovators.
