THIS YEAR'S SUMMER FAIR FEATURES A 'FLEA MARKET EXTRAVAGANZA'!
Our Summer Fair, scheduled for August 19, has always featured fine crafters and a flea market. We're doing it differently this year. You bring your crafts and/or your 'fleas', give the church $15 for a table or space, and keep whatever earnings from your sales! We do all the promotion and bring your customers! This is a great opportunity for people who live in hard-to-reach places who want to pass along some treasures. Attached please find a reservation form - good for crafters as well as 'flea' sellers.
Please complete this reservation form and mail it to Joyce LaPorte, 13 Edgewood Park Drive, Newport, NH 03773 before the fair!
Of course our fair will also feature a fantastic Chinese Auction, a great raffle, a bake table, food, and music! Save the date!

TIME FOR ANOTHER CONTAINER SHIPMENT
TO ZIMBABWE!
Once again, the United Church of Christ in Keene is organizing a container shipment to Zimbabwe. South Newbury Union Church is seeking contributions both for our partner church and for support of the Chaplaincy program of Midlands State University. The pastor of our partner church is head chaplain at Midlands. He reports that some students arrive there with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing.
Click
here to download a list of priority items. This list will be available at worship services through August. You may also make a financial contribution to offset the shipping costs and enable us to purchase some especially needed items. Make checks payable to the Deacon Fund of SNUC, and write "Zimbabwe Shipment" in the memo line.
Donations to Zimbabwe will be placed in the chancel area of our church throughout August. We will dedicate them August 27, pack them the week following, and take them to Keene to load in the container Sept 9.
Click
here to email your willingness to help pack or deliver items to Keene. We'll get back to you with details!

SUNDAY SCHOOL ORGANIZES FOR FALL, OFFERS SAFE CHURCH TRAINING FOR EVERYONE
We're getting ready for another great year of Sunday School! On August 21 at 10 AM in the Friendship House, teachers, parents, and anyone interested in supporting our ministries with children and youth are encouraged to attend a Sunday School Orientation and Safe Church Training event.
It is the desire of our church that as many people as possible be Safe Church trained, because it takes us all to ensure the safety of us all. People who work with our children need a 'refresher' every two years, so even if you've taken the training in the past, please plan to attend.

SHINING THE LIGHT CAMPAIGN
REACHES OUT TO OUR NEIGHBORS
Members and relatives of members of our church have very generously supported our "Shining the Light" Capital Campaign. We've received about $210,000 in pledges, direct gifts, and in-kind donations already. Thank you for your generosity!
The next phase of our campaign involves out to friends and neighbors in the Newbury area. We are doing this through small group gatherings as well as direct appeals. If you know of anyone who might be interested in supporting our vision, please pass their name and contact information along to Gail Bostic or Rev. Kellelr.
Remember that this campaign is primarily designed to increase our capacity to be a place supporting programs and activities for the people of Newbury.
If you would like a Letter of Intent (hopefully church members and relatives have received one along with other campaign materials in the mail) click
here
To learn more about what we want to accomplish, visit the
Our Vision For the Future page on our web site. You'll see a proposed site plan and a concept of the renovated buildings.
Please continue to pray for this campaign and the team of people who are carrying it out on our behalf.

DISTRICT #5 SCHOOL REUNION PLANNED
Our Friendship House once was the largest schoolhouse in Newbury. There's still plenty of people who fondly remember attending school there.
We're hoping to find as many of those former students as we can, and gathering them for a lunch in early fall. We need everyone's help locating as many of these students as we can! If you know any of them, or are one of them, click here to share contact information with Joyce LaPorte, who is coordinating the event. We'll be settling on a date and sending out invitations soon.
