Why Teambuilding? From the outside, teambuilding activities look like we're simply playing games, but it's so much more! The activities take concentration, communication and cooperation, i.e. looking at strengths and finding healthy interaction.
This is open to both adults and high school students. While this is primarily a training event (and not a "youth event") high school students are welcome and even encouraged to attend. The primary goals for team-building activities are:
  • To increase the participants' sense of personal confidence.
  • To increase creativity, cooperation, respect and support within a group.
  • To become more aware of the direction of your church.
Jalisa Johnson will be leading this event. The workshop is highly recommended by the Rev. Brian Coleman, who has participated in Johnson's workshops before: "She had a way of connecting the games that we played with important themes and lessons about the liturgical year: Incarnation, Redemption, Discipleship. It was both light-hearted and deeply spiritual at the same time. I highly recommend it," he said.

Sr. Helen Prejean, CSJ, Author of Dead Man Walking, at Transformations Spirituality Center

Sr. Helen Prejean will be speaking at Holy Family Chapel at Nazareth at 3427 Gull Road (see map here) from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. This event is free and open to the public.  (A free-will offering will be accepted).

Meet the real woman behind the book, film and opera Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty. Join us as she shares her continuing journey of standing for life...all life in all its holiness, with all its wonder, all its flaws, from beginning to end. Sr. Helen is an engaging and inspiring example of how prayer and responding to the gospel message can take us in unexpected directions to unanticipated places.

Since 1984, Sister Helen has divided her time between educating citizens about the death penalty, counseling individual death row prisoners, public speaking and writing. She has accompanied six men to their deaths. In doing so, she began to suspect that some of those executed were not guilty. This realization inspired her second book, The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions. As the founder of "Survive," a victim's advocacy group in New Orleans, she continues to counsel not only inmates on death row, but the families of murder victims, as well.
