June Matinee THIS Afternoon
Thursday, June 25 at 1 PM
Come join our “merry family of movie viewers” to watch Tom Hanks transfer into the incredible Mr. Rogers for a most special true story of a friendship between Mr. Rogers and journalist Tom Junad (played by Matthew Rhys). We will begin “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” in the Parish Hall at 1 PM today.
As always, the Silver Saints Movie Matinee offers fun and fellowship much like going to a theater, but the snacks, beverages, and movie are free. We offer comfortable seating and a time-out break half-way through the movie. Friends and neighbors are welcome to join us.

Choral Evensong Service
NEXT Wednesday
All are invited to attend a service of Choral Evensong at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 1. The service will be presented by the participants of our Chorister Summer Camp, a combined effort of St. Thomas, the Church of the Nativity, and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Music includes "Responses" by Harry Bramma, "Anglican Chant" by Henry Walford Davies, "Magnificat" and "Nunc Dimittis" by Kathy Heim, "A Prayer of St. Richard of Chichester" by L. J. White, and the traditional chant, "Salve Regina".
It's not too late to register for Chorister Summer Camp, which begins next Monday at 9 am. Chorister Camp is open to all rising 3rd - 9th graders. We will be meeting Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (June 29-July 1) from 9 am to 2 pm; and then Wednesday evening at 5:30 pm, we will come back to warm up for our 6 o'clock Evensong. Sessions will include choir chimes, musicianship workshops, rehearsals of the Evensong repertoire, special crafts, and we’ll even learn a little bit about the feast days of some important figures in church history, including St. Peter and St. Paul and the patron saint of music, St. Cecilia. Contact Miss Kathy via her email if you have any questions. Register HERE.

Newcomer Contacts
Volunteer Opportunity
Your Invite, Welcome, and Connect Committee is planning to offer a personalized point of contact or "coach" to our newcomers should they desire one. As a volunteer in this role, you would be the familiar face at church who helps ease them into our community or the person they can ask tough questions like, "Where is the Narthex?" and "What's the deal with all the lobsters?" We have begun to create a list of St. Thomas parishioners who want to be placed in a catalog of coaches covering a range of backgrounds, interests, and demographics to match with our newcomers. To volunteer, look for volunteer forms in Information Hall or complete an on-line volunteer form here.
You don't have to be the reigning St. Thomas Jeopardy champion or an esteemed Episcopal theologian to participate. If you enjoy sharing the warm St. Thomas spirit, we hope you'll join the roster.
For questions about this ministry, contact Kurt Dietz at kabhmk2017@gmail.com.

The Prince of Egypt by Huntsville's Independent Musical Productions
Independent Musical Productions' summer musical this year is "The Prince Of Egypt". A family friendly production based on the 1998 animated Dreamworks film of the same name, it follows the life of Moses from his adoption into the Egyptian royal family through the leading of the Israelites out of slavery.
The show runs one weekend only July 16-19 at Lee High (though not a high school production). Groups larger than 10 people can receive a discount. Contact Amy Warren via her IMP email or phone (256-679-5384).

Manna House Update
from Nell Fisher
Summer is here, and this is a good time to clean out your closets for those less fortunate. Your donations now go in new collection bin, donated by Frances and Alexander Steel. Look for it in Information Hall. Manna House recipients need EVERYTHING especially underwear, socks, and shoes (used is fine). Old prescription glasses are also a welcome item greatly appreciated by the homeless.
We often think of the homeless with the cold weather of winter, but the need is year-round.
Thank you for your generosity!

Little Free Pantry Update
from Jennifer Leon
For a NEW list of needed pantry items, check out our Little Free Pantry poster or contact Jennifer Leon, LFP chair, at 256-280-7713 with any questions.
If you didn't take the time to read these inspirational stories last week, this is your chance to read about how your support makes a difference!
Chris, a lovely lady in the community, fills the pantry on a regular basis. Another donor, who chooses to remain anonymous, fills the LFP multiple times a week.

Tristan is a young man between jobs and hungry. He was on a skateboard and waiting on one of the concrete benches hoping someone would fill the pantry. He took only what he could carry in the small bag he had with him. After helping him, I returned inside the church to gather the items to replace what he had taken. By the time I came back outside, someone had filled the pantry to the brim.
Lacoa is a working mother who struggles to put food on the table. She takes only what she needs and leaves the remaining food behind for others.
A grandmother raising her 3 grandchildren doesn't have enough money to feed them. She is using our ministry to help with their needs.
Grace, a senior adult, brings apples to our pantry.
Janet is a heart and lung patient who is between jobs due to her health situation. Because we are able to provide some fresh fruits and vegetables, she is able to eat the diet her doctor instructed her to eat.
