Children's Service

This Sunday, May 8th

Join us for our Quarterly Children's Service at 10:30 AM this Sunday, May 8! Our youngest parishioners will help lead the service as acolytes and lectors. The Treble Choir will be leading us in song.

You don't want to miss it!

Also, we plan on continuing Parents' Morning Out on Wednesday mornings from 9 AM-12 PM during the summer (starting June 1) for children elementary school-aged and under. PLEASE let Laura Beth Bestor, our Children's Ministry Coordinator know if your family would like to take part by emailing ([email protected]) or calling the church office. If there is enough interest, we will have two rooms to accommodate the different age groups.

Silver Saints Logo.png

Silver Saints is Thursday, May 12th at 1 P.M. Bring a friend or two and enjoy “The World’s Fastest Indian” starring Anthony Hopkins! This event is an opportunity for fellowship with our parishioners and visitors much like going to a theater, but with no fee and better snacks and beverages! We will even pick you up and return you home if you wish. We offer comfortable seating and a break half way through the movie. We will have refreshments to share and transportation is available.

If you need transportation, please call Jack or Becky Stokes at 256-881-4748; Ranie at 256-880-0247; or the church office. For transportation, please call at least one day in advance.

Adult Christian Formation Resumes with Two Classes!

Beginning this Sunday, May 15 through June 26 we will offer two Adult Formation offerings. Both classes will meet at 9:30 AM. The offerings include a (1) Bible Study which will meet in Conference Room 1 and will be led by our Interim Rector, The Rev. Dr. Virginia Monroe. We will study the Gospel of Luke. The other offering (2) will be a topical study on the book My Church Is Not Dying: Episcopalians in the 21st Century by Greg Garrett. The book will serve as a conversation starter about who we are as a parish community and the ways in which we desire to evolve. It will be facilitated by The Rev. Ranie Neislar and will meet in Conference Room 2.

Grab your coffee and get to formation! Adult Christian Formation will go on a break in July and August.

Pentecost Worship and Picnic

We’re headed back to Green Mountain on June 5! What a great way to kick off summer! We’re going back to the pavilion at the Nature Center on Green Mountain. The pavilion is easily accessible to all. We will celebrate with the Jazz Eucharist arranged by our own Kathy Heim.

St. Thomas will provide fried chicken with all the “fix-ins”! You don’t need to bring a thing, but we recommend you wear something RED to celebrate the day and dress comfortably. Bug spray isn’t a bad idea either. There are a large number of picnic tables available or you may want to bring a camp chair to be more comfortable. We will only offer the 10:30 AM service on this day on Green Mountain. There will be no service in the church.

Join Us to Celebrate Arlyn Hennigar!

Join us for a retirement celebration to honor Arlyn Hennigar’s 30 years of hard work and service to the children’s ministry of St. Thomas on Sunday, May 22 at the 10:30AM Service. We will continue with a reception for her following the service.

If you have questions related to this event please contact our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Laura Beth Bestor at [email protected]

Little Free Pantry

Pick up your grocery bags this Sunday for the Little Free Pantry Sunday on May 15. Parishioners may drop off the food in the old servant’s closet or in the shopping carts at any time.

Bags with a list of items needed are in the Narthex— please pick them up this Sunday or grab one during the week!

Save the Date!

Golden Girls and Boys Luncheon is June 11th!

Our Parish is excited to honor our eighty and ninety-somethings on June 11 at 11:30 with a luncheon in the Parish Hall.

If you or your spouse is 80 or over, you are the honoree: no cooking or baking or salad-making. You are our guests! We will have ham and side salads, cake, and lots of conversation with lots of people we haven’t seen in ages.

Remember, this is a parish-wide party; those of us who can’t claim Golden status yet are encouraged and invited to attend. (The only difference is that we do the salad-making to share with the honorees: green salads, potato salads, fruit salads, deviled eggs, dips and spreads, nuts and olives, cheese and crackers. All are welcome.) If you can't attend but would like to honor these cherished members of our church, feel free to make a salad and drop it off in the Parish Hall!

We began on the 23rd and will meet every Saturday from 8AM to 3PM until the job is complete. If you can work on Tuesday or Thursday from 8AM to noon, please let me know. Please contact Elouisa Stokes for more information 256-604-8669.
