THE EPISTLE: July 13th, 2022

Grief Support Group

Beginning Wednesday, August 3rd at 2:00, The Reverend Carl Malm, M.Div., will lead a grief support group at Saint Thomas.

This group is for anyone grieving a death, divorce, or other significant loss. It will also be helpful for those going through a major life transition such as retirement, aging, or moving.

The Reverend Malm has been a Grief Counselor at The Center for Loss, Grief, and Change since 1999. He has been the pastor of Old Brick Presbyterian Church since 2006. He has held the position of Executive Director, Huntsville Association for Pastoral Care since 2015.

We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity for grief support. If you have questions, please contact Virginia Monroe at vmonroe@stthomashuntsvlle.org or call the church, 256-880-0247.

Guidelines for Receiving Communion

All who seek Christ are welcome at the Lord’s Table at the Celebration of Holy Eucharist at Saint Thomas. Due to ongoing concerns about Covid during this time, the wine is offered by intinction only.

After receiving the bread, when the chalice bearer presents the chalice, please dip the edge of the wafer into the wine. Please remember that you receive the full benefits of communion if you choose only to receive the bread.

If you prefer to receive a blessing, please cross your arms over your chest. Again, welcome to the Table.

Video surveillance cameras are in place throughout the church to provide 24-hour security for our building and property.

These were installed following several break-ins at the church, in addition to the key fob access system so we may monitor who gains access to the building during off hours.

We Need Your Help With the Bulletin Prayer Lists!

In order to update the prayer list, please look at the extended list of “Those who are ill or in distress.” If you submitted a name and that person no longer needs prayers for a current situation please call the office or email Dorothy to let her know.

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

After last’s month’s most special Silver Saints Matinee Movie, we are challenged to view one of similar strength and intensity in August. So, we are offering “A Walk in the Clouds,” with Keanu Reeves and Anthony Quinn.

This movie is romantic with drama and humor blended in, a perfect follow-on

It is the story of a soldier returning home from World War II as he meets a family who is in the wine business. Come join us in the St. Thomas Parish Hall at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 21

The Silver Saints Movie Matinee offers fun and fellowship with our parishioners and visitors much like going to a theater, but with no fee. We offer snacks and beverages, and we will even pick you up and return you home if you wish. We offer comfortable seating and a time-out break half way through the movie. Please bring your friends and ask people from our neighborhood.

Call Jack or Becky Stokes at 256-881-4748, or the church office at 256-880-0247. Please call 24 hours ahead if you will need a ride. Please come join us.
