Care Givers Support Group

If you or someone you know is a caregiver for a loved one, we have a support group at St. Thomas that meets every other week. Our group facilitator is licensed therapist and fellow parishioner, Jane Allgood.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, August 10 at 1 P.M. in the Parlor. If you would like to be added to our meetings notification list or simply want more information about the Caregivers Support Program, text or email Mona Parker at 256-599-9942 or mona.s.parker@gmail.com.

ReGeneration Returns

Our first monthly event will be a Back to School Pool Party for the whole family on Saturday, August 13 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Renaissance Pool and Clubhouse (2200 Rosebrooke Dr SW, subdivision is behind Wal-Mart on S. Parkway). St. Thomas will provide pizza and drinks.

Let Laura Beth Bestor (children@stthomashuntsville.org) or Michell York (michelldyork@gmail.com) know if you plan to attend.

We're also planning on meeting up for the Trash Pandas baseball game on September 18 at 2:35 pm and need to reserve group seating. Let Laura Beth or Michell know if you and your family are interested in going to the game.

Grief Group at St. Thomas

The dates for the Grief Group have changed. The first meeting will be Wednesday, August 17^th, and each Wednesday through September 21. The group will meet at 2:00, the location will be determined at the first meeting.

The Reverend Carl Malm, M.Div., will lead the group. He has been a Grief Counselor at The Center for Loss, Grief, and Change since 1999. He has held the position of Executive Director, Huntsville Association for Pastoral Care since 2015.

This group is for anyone grieving a death, divorce, or other significant loss. It will also be helpful for those going through a major life transition such as retirement, aging or moving.

Silver Saints Movie Matinee

We think you will enjoy our movie for this month’s Silver Saints Matinee Movie. As you know, we meet in the St. Thomas Parish Hall at 1:00 PM. This month we will meet on Thursday, August 18. The movie for this month is A Dog’s Purpose (NOTE: The dog is alive at the end) with Dennis Quaid, Britt Robertson, and Kjapa John Ortiz. It is an adorable and heart-warming story of a dog and his people with a message of love.

The Silver Saints Movie Matinee offers you fun and fellowship for all comers. We have snacks and beverages, and we will even transport you if you wish. There is comfortable seating and a break half way through the movie. Please bring your friends and ask people from our neighborhood. Adult Choir is open to everyone from High School Students to Silver Saints.

We’ll kick off our season with an in-house choir retreat on August 26 & 27.

Our regular Wednesday rehearsals begin on September 7 at 7:00 in the choir room.

IWC Sunday: August 21st

Join us for a special Invite, Welcome, Connect (IWC) Sunday on

August 21, from 9:15-10:15 A.M.

We will be having a small group discussion about your unique "Welcome" experiences and the Invite Welcome and Connect Committee will be sitting in on the conversations in order to learn more about how we can grow in our "Welcome" to those that come to the church.

Treble Choir is open to all kids 4K and older.

We’ll kick off choir season with a pool party for all new, current, and returning kids and their families at Miss Kathy’s house, 1917 Lynnbrook Drive SW 35803 on Sunday Evening, September 21, 4-6 PM, with Pizza and Popsicles.

St. Thomas Backpack Meals

The St. Thomas Backpack Meals program is looking for additional drivers with trucks or vans to deliver meals to Jones Valley and Chapmen Elementary Schools. Deliveries will be one day a month. Parish Photos Updated

As various groups at St. Thomas are preparing for the selection and arrival of our new Rector, WE ALL need to participate in the updating of our Parish Photo Directory. We can’t expect a new member of our clergy to recognize us (and particularly our children) based on family photos that are more than 3 years old (one year if you have young children).

Several families have already had updated photos made, and their out-of-date photos are available for pick-up on the rolling bulletin board in Information Hall. Be sure to claim yours no later than August 28, after which all out-of-date photos will disappear.

New photos will be made after both morning worship services on August 7, 14 and 21. If you can’t make one of those times work for you, please contact Susan Smith at susan@susanjsmith.com or 256-503-0695 to arrange an alternate time. Our new Rector will appreciate your effort.
