Since 1995, Everybody Wins DC has been guided by a simple yet powerful belief: shared reading can change a child’s life for the better. By building connections over books, EWDC helps children build the skills they need to thrive in the classroom, their community, and beyond.

While each of our 25 years has been unique and special, this program year was truly extraordinary. Over a thousand students served.  5,200 free books given away. Almost 6,000 hours of shared reading.

And when COVID-19 shut schools and sent students home, we went home with them. New virtual programs like our Power Lunch Pen Pals and online Shared Reading Library helped keep reading connections strong.

These accomplishments, plus many more, are detailed in this year’s  Shared Reading Report . And while the children we serve are at the core of EWDC’s work, it is our volunteers, supporters, and friends who make it all possible. Thank you.

Looking ahead to the upcoming school year, we know that students will face unprecedented challenges as a result of COVID-19 school closures – learning loss, social isolation, anxiety, and feelings of helplessness. We also know that Black, Hispanic and economically disadvantaged students are disproportionately affected. In other words, our students need us now more than ever.

With  your help , we can keep our students connected to their mentors and ensure they have the support they need to face the unknown challenges ahead. Just $25 supports the creation of new virtual shared reading materials ; $50 provides a child with a set of free books   to keep and read with their family. Your gift  will bring the power of shared reading to children and families when they need it most.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment. I look forward to another amazing year of shared reading!
