This week is Red Ribbon Week! Red Ribbon Week traditionally focuses on encouraging kids to commit to being drug free. This year, CCA is taking a broader approach – our focus for the week is “Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds.”

Throughout the week, be sure to ask your child(ren) about what they’ve learned! Some of the highlights we have planned are:

  • CCA's Fly Like an Eagle Committee will have a table set up today so students can commit to one healthy goal. We’ll have a chain of everyone’s goals hanging near the “We Are CCA” mosaic the students created on FLAE Day to represent that we’re all here to support each other.

  • Ms. Rutz and Mrs. MacFarland will be leading students in fun, physical activities every morning this week in the gym before school.

  • Students and teachers will add their initials to red ribbons, signifying their commitment to “healthy bodies, healthy minds,” and those red ribbons will be displayed on the fence in front of the school.

  • Lots of healthy tips will be displayed around the school all week. Some of the topics are: eating healthy, staying hydrated, avoiding drugs/alcohol, getting enough sleep, limiting screen time, spending time in nature, and healthy ways to manage stress.

Students are also encouraged to participate in a poster contest. The challenge is to create a poster that shows:
  • Something they do to feel better when they’re feeling stressed out; or
  • A healthy choice they make that helps them feel like their best selves everyday.

Every student who submits a poster will be entered in a raffle for the chance to win a free dress day!

Posters are due by Thursday, October 24th to qualify for a raffle entry. All posters will be displayed in the school hallways.
